2nd gear on the automatic transmission went. I had to have my mechanic replace the whole transmission.

Almost got hit by a semi as I was leaving Billings MT when the transmission wouldn't up shift.

Towed to the only Honda Dealership in town. Problem code:P0730 Incorrect Gear Ratio Recommended a complete transmission change.

However, they couldn't get a hold of one until 7th Jan 2011 and I had to report to Borden Ontario for the 3rd Jan 2011.

They were nice enough to not charge me any service fees.

Next, towed the car to the recommended auto-transmission shop in town. Waited till the 31st Dec while they rebuilt the transmission. More to come...

Update from Feb 24, 2011: The cost for the fix was just under $3000 USD. They rebuilt the transmission.

The mechanics believe that there was a cross leak (internal) which caused a loss of pressure. Without enough pressure the transmission fluid wasn't being pumped through the filter. Eventually all the debris from wear and tear clogged up the filter and got to the point where no transmission fluid was getting through.

Finally my turn to beef about HONDA. I have ACURA 1.7 EL, this car came from the same assembly line as the CIVIC. I am really shocked at how much those little transmissions cost to rebuilt or replace. Why is Honda getting worse and worse with their product? maybe its profits or cheap materials but I am pissed. I maintain my vehicle with every service so i did not cheap out.

thank God i did not buy it new but i paid a good chunk when i bought it 6 years ago. I paid the extra money over a domestic to get longer life out of it, thats what i thought but i was wrong. I paid almost 5000 in maintaining my car since i had it, transmission, suspension, mounts and u name it. HONDA used to be good, not anymore. NEWER CARS SUCK and they're made that way so we buy more often and they PROFIT.
