Ram 3500 Mega Cab Inline Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

Bought a 2006 dodge 3500 diesel new. Truck has 78,000 easy miles on it. Started running hot a few days ago so I flushed radiator. When draining radiator I noticed coolant on ground was PINK. I checked transmission stick. Fluid was also PINK. Went straight to Dodge dealer. I was told the Transmission coolant box had failed internally and mixed the two fluids. Service manager stated the only fix was a COMPLETE transmission overhaul, new water pump and complete flush of engine coolant system. Cost between $5 and $7 thousand!! Drive train warranty is 5 years/100,000 miles so two years over but well within mileage. Has anyone heard of this type of drive train failure? I don't see how this should happen with only 78,000 miles.

Ram 3500 5.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,710 miles

4 speed auto tranny torque converter crapped out at 80k sending a grenade of sh*t into transmission. Was eventually fixed under warranty by dealer after fighting with them. Amazing how its always the consumers fault.

Ram 3500 Lariat

  • Manual transmission
  • 78,000 miles

The 6 speed manual transmission came out of this vehicle 2,000 miles away from my home. I made it to the dodge dealer. They informed me that my manual transmission needs to be replaced. I had to fly home and told them to fix it ASAP. It now has been 5 weeks and they still have not received my transmission from Daimler Chrysler. It has to be ordered from Germany. I cannot believe this. 5 weeks!!!

I can not believe you can't buy a transmission for an American made car in the US. This is my work vehicle and I had no income for 5 weeks now. THIS IS THE LAST DODGE I WILL EVER PURCHASE!!!
