My 1996 Ford Explorer has a problem with entry keys. I have had several made at the dealership and all continue to have problems unlocking vehicle doors. Most do not work from the passenger side, none work at the rear tailgate, and only a few work on the drivers side. When inserted and they do not work, you cannot even turn the key at all, like the lock is stuck. Trying another key may allow it to work and when it does the key will turn smoothly without effort. It is very frustrating and checking the Internet seems to be a common issue. Ford has not been able to fix the issue, but simply cuts a new key.
Until this issue is resolved I would not buy another Ford. Being able to enter your vehicle is essential and at times could be a life threatening need. If you were followed after leaving a business late at night or in a parking garage and felt that entering your vehicle for safety was needed but were unable, that to me would be a major concern. I need my door locks to operate 100% of the time in a reliable fashion.
