- EMISSIONS RECALL 96E57 - CERTAIN 1996 EXPLORERS EQUIPPED WITH THE 4.0L ENGINES AND BUILT AT THE LOUISVILLE ASSEMBLY PLANT ON 11/18/95 AND CERTAIN 1997 EXPLORERS EQUIPPED WITH THE 4.0L ENGINES AND BUILT AT THE LOUISVILLE ASSEMBLY PLANT FROM START OF 1997 PRODUCTION THROUGH 8/14/96 WERE BUILT AND SHIPPED WITH INCORRECT VAPOR MANAGEMENT VALVES INSTALLED IN THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM - INCORRECT VALVES MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLES TO EXCEED EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS STANDARDS - TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED TO RETURN THEIR EXPLORERS FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE VAPOR MANAGEMENT VALVE. *TW
