2016 AWD Taurus PTU failure. Front end all of a sudden sounded like it was grinding itself into oblivion. Got it to a transmission/repair shop and they pretty much knew what it was right away. The guy I spoke with was laughing (with me) as we discussed Ford's junk parts. He said he's put new PTU's on like five Flex's in the last six months.
I work hard for my money and this will be the last Ford I own. They did it to themselves. Built Ford tough is crap. These ptu's are dropping like flies on the taurus and flex models. Don't even bother to put a drain plug on it to service it. These things drive the front wheels but are lubed by 6 ounces of oil? Where do these engineers get their degrees at?
From their exploding spark plugs and intake manifold covers and now ptu's. All engineering disasters that cost their customers thousands to fix.
Sure, I have had "problems" with other makes as well BUT it has not been the constant major failure of major systems as with Ford.
