CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005 Honda Accord suffers from transmission failure. It's not a huge widesperad problem like in prior years, but definitely still something to consider.
The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 90,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000.
Transmission failure problems have been a huge problem for the Accord & several other Honda models all through the early 2000s model years. Honda eventually extended the transmission warranty to 93 months/109k miles for the 2000-2001 Accords as a class action lawsuit settlement, but owners of other Accord model years with transmission problems are out of luck.

I purchased this car from CarZone in dover, de. 4months ago. My husband went to work and when he tried to come home, ignition would not turn. Took it to the dealership and they said that we need new ignition switch. Told us it would be $500. we called autozone they said piece would be $65 so we bought it ourselves. We put the piece on and it did nothing to our car so we then went back to Honda and now they are telling me that its the ignition and they are really crappy on honda and can go bad during lighting storm. Basically the car thinks it has stolen itself. I've been waiting over a week to get this car fixed. I bought the car because engine is reliable but they don't tell you that it's going to be reliable due to you not being able to drive the car. Hondas are going on the list with my old pontiac. The car I'll never buy again list and its bad if you've made it on there with a pontiac.
