The CMU failure renders the Infotainment System worthless! No navigation, no radio (other than the station it was tuned to at the time of failure), no bluetooth, and a sporadic backup camera. This is a common issue when researched on the internet. This is a colossal screw-up by Mazda and it should be a recall. The display screen flashes as it reboots every 30 seconds! This is a safety issue and is blindingly distracting when driving at night.
Update from Jan 9, 2020: So this is new... car was due for an oil change, so dash reminder came on. Had oil changed at dealer, but due to the bad CMU, the reminder cannot be reset and now prevents used of, MPG monitoring, miles remaining before empty, and other travel info. So annoying.
Update from Jan 20, 2020: Received a call from the Mazda Dealer. They said Mazda agreed to cover the CMU under warranty even though the warranty had expired (currently 44,700 miles). Dealer replace Mazda Connect/CMU. I paid a $33 deductible.
