A major system like this should never have failed at under 40,000 miles. The problem was a material failure in the condenser that blew out the side shell and emptied the refrigerant.
Of course, the receiver/drier gets polluted with detritus from the failure and has to be replaced as well.
We were more concerned with the fact that the dealer would not honor the 30,000 mile primary warranty on "accessory" systems. This is a major system and should have remained covered by the factory, as it was a material failure.
