My husband noticed the oil pressure light was on. Took the vehicle to our mechanic and was told there was "little to no oil" left and that it was a miracle we made it to the shop without the engine seizing completely. The piston rings are loose and oil is now leaking and burning internally. Our mechanic specializes in Japanese imports, and he told us he saw this same issue with a 2012 Sienna just the previous week (same engine). We purchased this vehicle because we wanted a reliable vehicle that would last us well over 250k miles. Now we are looking to either replace the engine or rebuild at a cost between $7k-$9k (quoted from the Toyota dealership), or sell the car as-is ASAP. This car has never missed a scheduled service or oil change. It only has 112K miles and we are extremely disappointed in this outcome, as now we have significant financial issues to overcome.
