My 2010 Toyota Rav4 has a very loud and distinct clunk sound coming from the rear suspension. Additionally the rear end has a very noticeable swaying which is predominantly felt when executing a left curve at highway speeds (50 - 75 MPH). I've had several auto shops look at it but they can't seem to pinpoint the problem.
I even paid a Toyota dealer, Avondale Toyota, 10005 W. Papago Freeway, Avondale, AZ, a $100 diagnostic fee for them to locate the cause of the rear end sway and the clunking noise. They said I had a leaking rear shock which was the problem.
The Toyota dealer want WAY too much to replace the rear shocks with standard OEM Toyota struts so I opted to have them replaced with Bilstein 19-164687 gas shocks. I even decided to change out my front struts at the same time as well.
Well, the swaying is still there and I wasted $100 for Avondale Toyota to tell me something I already knew.
Has anyone else have this same swaying and/or clunking noise with their 2010 Toyota Rav4? If so did you find a solution?
