Our 2014 MDX brakes began vibrating around 9,000 miles. I am not a hard driver and was surprised that a new vehicle would have this issue. Discussed with dealership, they said rotors are probably warped due to overheating, but they wouldn't acknowledge any common problem with 2014 MDX. Vibration and whole car shimmying has continued to get worse. Driving down CO I-70 after Eisenhower tower, whole car began shimmying so bad I thought I might lose control. Had brakes inspected and told the rotors are badly warped.

Called Acura and they refuse to even help with having rotors re-surfaced, continue to state this is not covered by warranty. I was told by Flatirons Acura dealer that Acura has usually covered one rotor resurfacing. Given the numerous other complaints from 2014 MDX owners and speaking with the dealer, this seems to be a design flaw with the new model (plus it is supposedly rated to tow 5000 lbs).

Would be nice if Acura would acknowledge and stand behind their brand. I will be selling my MDX and going back to Toyota.

MDX Tech 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,500 miles

Started facing vibration in steering wheel when MDX had 8K miles on it and at that time dealer told that its normal In my next service for oil change I told the dealer tech that I am still facing the problem and its quite significant. He stated that its rotor surface are uneven and warped and he has to resurface all 4 of these rotors.

How can rotor gets warped at 12-13K miles. Its fairly new car. My concern is to replace all the bad rotors but dealer insisted that they will resurface those rotors.

Resurfacing reduces the life of the rotors and then I called Acura and they assigned me District case manager and in turn they talked to Dealer and final result is that they will resurface it not replace it.

If the product is defective then they should replace it. I think the amount of concerns regarding 2014 Acura MDX they are receiving regarding the brakes are enormous and they should recall or replace the rotors.

MDX Tech

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,000 miles

ACURA'S SOLUTION TO THE WARPED ROTORS WAS TO MACHINE THEM (MAKE THEM EVEN THINNER). WARPED AGAIN 18000 MILES LATER, NO SURPRISE AS THEY ARE NOW MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO WARPING. NOW ACURA SAYS THEY ALREADY GAVE ME A COURTESY "FIX" AND CAN DO NOTHING BECAUSE IT IS NOT A WARRANTY PART.

ACURA HAS FALLEN SUBSTANTIALLY IN QUALITY AND DESIGN I USED TO BE A FAN BUT NOT ANYMORE, THIS MY AND MY FAMILIES LAST ACURA- AT ONE TIME WE HAD 6 IN THE FAMILY.
