Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

2005 Acura TL Owner Comments

TL 6-cyl

I wish to report the catastrophic failure of the clutch of a 6-shift standard 2005 Acura TL [xxx]. the car has less than 6,000 miles and less than one year of moderate use. While going up a hill in a three lane expressway, I lost the torque to the wheels and the car ended on neutral, forcing me to make a dangerous maneuver to park the car on the shoulder of the expressway. Upon opening the hood, it was evident that the clutch had burned out. I understand that failure in material or workmanship was the cause of the catastrophic failure. Sudden loss of power at expressway speeds is dangerous and could result in an accident. I report this to you so that you can keep a record of this defect of the 2005 Acura TL (6-shift standard). Updated 07/16/2012 information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
