It's embarassing to have a passenger. The dash cracks are growing!

I spoke with Acura about my cracked dash. They basically told me to get bent. I spoke to my local dealer who said they would pay 30% of the cost for a new dash. I wasn't willing to put up close to a grand for something cosmetic. But I do expect better quality from Acura. I have an 05 Accord as well that doesn't have a cracked dash. I bought a carpet dash mat and haven't thought much about it anymore. Meh

dash cracks

The car has been well cared for, garage stored and I am the original owner yet the dash cracked for no apparent reason. It started with one crack and has continued to expand. The car looks like new on the outside yet I am embarrassed to transport anyone in this vehicle due to the condition of the dash. This is unfortunate as Acura is recognized as a quality luxury sedan. The condition of the dash is representative of neither of those.

I had a 16 year old Accord with a like new dash, but this luxury version of the same car at 7 years has 2 cracks in the dash, passenger side that the service manager said was very common. In fact when he saw the car he said that the dash was cracked before I could tell him. Acura offered to pay half to replace it, my half was $900. I refuse to put that kind of money into a car that is falling apart well before its time.

So out of the blue the dash cracks at 2 different places. Apparently the material used for the dashboard is very cheap and does not resist expansion and contraction when it gets really hot or really cold. On my vehicle I have two cracks, One above the passenger airbag and another by the mid speaker above the radio. I have seen pictures of older cars with multiple cracks, luckily my car hasn't gotten that bad (knock on wood it will not). Not sure how much it will cost to replace it, but I don't think I will bother. Just very annoying I must say.
