Transmission goes into fail safe mode during driving on express way around 75 mph while releasing gas pedal slightly and pressing it again. Car has to be pulled owner to be restarted to reset fail safe mode. May happen again during driving few more time. Car was taken to local Audi dealership for service, After reading codes , advised to check transmission fluid level. Technician stated level was low and added some. Was driving good for two weeks.

A8 4.2L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,789 miles

During driving on highway around 70-75 mph and changing lanes transmission went in fail safe mode twice with triggering check engine light to come on. Stopped twice to reset it. Also, scanned codes revealed codes P2702, transmission friction element clutch C, P2704 -clutch C and P0730 - incorrect gear ratio. Took car back to dealership for suggestions in next step. Car has only 41789 miles and there was no leaks from transmission unit. Technician will check fluid level again and advised replacing transmission filter. Still waiting on call from dealership.

transmission fail safe mode driving uphill

During driving uphill and applying gas pedal, transmission went in fail safe mode again. It seems like it wants to shift gears but somethings is holding or delaying in shifting. Had to pull over and reset it by turning car off and on again. This seems to happen around 4 and 5 gears.
