They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. The contact owns a 2004 Audi Allroad. While driving at an unknown speed, burning fumes emitted into the vehicle. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that a fire erupted near the turn signals and the steering column area. The contact was able to extinguish the flames with water. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop and later to a dealer for inspection and diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 08V157000 (fuel system, gasoline), 06V198000 (electrical system), and 04V133000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.
