I have been recently getting the takata airbag recall which I am getting done soon. I noticed however an old recall on some BMW 325is starting in 2001. An issue with the handbrake... the database is showing that my VIN doesn't have this issue but I can sure tell you I had this issue and bad. Driving 70 down the highway when the handbrake clamp or adjuster... something broke and fell into the drum of the brake disc. It then made a horrible noise and fully destroyed the parking brake assembly and sounded like a washing machine filled with metal. I took the disc off and found all the parts just inside wrecked. Was this recall not covered for enough cars or does a recall expire? I literally feel this could've been a serious issue if it somehow had locked a wheel!

While traveling down the interstate at approximately 75 mph with the cruise control on, the car suddenly veered left and the ABS engaged and slowed the car suddenly to about 40 mph. My immediate thought was that I had blown a tire, but then recognized the ABS was causing the car to judder. The dsc and ABS lights illuminated and remained on. The mil light did not illuminate. I took the car to a repair shop that diagnosed a faulty rotational rate sensor (yaw). The system recognized that it received erroneous data, but I believe failed in an unsafe manner. I purchased this car for my soon to be 16 year old daughter and cringe to think how she would've reacted to this situation. This failure put the car in the precise situation where you would want the dsc to be working.

BMW 330xi 2001 55,000 miles latest problem October 2014 lately when I start the car, press on the brake and put it in drive the engine revs all the way up and the car gets away from me. I have to stomp on the brake with both feet and pop the gear to park in order to stop the car... clearly you can hear the engine revving at a very high rate getting traction while pressing on the brake. In the past I thought it was stupid me pressing the gas and brakes at the same time inadvertently... or maybe the floor mat got in the way and accelerating when pushing on the brake - but neither of those are true. I have my right foot on the far left side of the brake pedal totally avoiding he gas pedal in anticipation of it happens and it happens anyway. Unfortunately it is an intermittent problem that can't be duplicated to show the mechanic... any help would be greatly appreciated... I posted this on bimmerfest who suggested I post a complaint.

A friend was following me home and nearly ran in back of me because she said I didn't brake, I told her I did, but a warning light came on in my car, so I went to purchase more bulbs, the bulb worked for a couple of hours, then the warning light came back on, then days later the other one, I took to mechanic, he found that a part in the housing had burned all the way down, and that I should check on recalls, because it's no fault of mine... I checked recalls and found that there were problems with the housing that houses the brake and signal lights, beginning with 2002... my car is a 325I 2001, I feel that this year should be included in the current recall, I researched online, and found that I am not the only one with a 2001 bmw325I with the same problem as the current recall... this could definitely cause an accident, with the housing working one minute and out the next, really think this should be included immediately... I was pulled over by an officer stating I didn't signal, but I did, the signal worked in car, but didn't outside...
