Unknown, BMW had to replace an eccentric shaft sensor, valve cover fuel pump sensing unit after check engine light appeared. The repair was significant and appeared to be a huge safety hazard from my understanding. Please look into this matter. Thank you

I have fuel leaking from the top of my fuel tank. I have neen advised that it is a fuel tank sending unit or a seal. My fuel pump works as my car is operational. The leak occurs when the gas tank is over half full. This is a safety issue and should be a recall.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 BMW 328I. The contact received a recall notification for the air bags. The parts were not available in a reasonable time frame to schedule a repair with the dealer. The manufacturer was notified. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated severely and randomly stalled. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13V044000 (electrical system). Also, the fuel pump failed and the vehicle was unable to be driven. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The contact was waiting to determine when the recall repairs would be completed. The NHTSA campaign number for the air bags was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I purchased the car from an independent dealer with somewhere around 60K or 65K miles it now has around 80K miles and since the car has been purchased it has had one problem after the next. The electrical for the windows, mirrors, door locks, gps system, head lights were not working properly. I received a fault warning that the outside running lights or headlights were not operating properly. I have noticed the check engine light on and took it to have it looked at which I was told obd code reads misfire #2 ignition coil. I had the parts replaced and codes cleared and still the light came back on reading the same fault code had it checked again and was told it is a new part and it has been replaced and he cannot figure why it would come back the same thing. The only explanation he had for me is there is an electrical problem or there is something wrong with the obd computer. Since then the car has had trouble cranking, stutters on take off, stalls at stop lights, I have had a loss of power immediately while on getting on the free way and the car said reduced engine power shut down and would not let me get over speeds of 20. I have smelt fuel when the ac was turned on. Has been numerous things one after the other. I was looking at numerous recalls for the electrical, the fuel pump, the lights, and now the air bags.and seat belt tensioners. I would like to find out if the car was ever brought in to be fixed from the recalls, or if the recalls expire. Cause I have not owned vehicle very long

While driving on the hiway, the engine will shake, car will rev, check engine light comes on, then engine dies. Car loses power and if I'm lucky then I can pull over to the side. After some researching, some series have had a recall on fuel pump failure. Please review if the 328xi can be included in the recall.

The contact owns a 2007 BMW 328I. The contact stated that while in park, the contact noticed strong fuel fumes outside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. However, the mechanic suggested replacing the fuel cap. The fuel cap was replaced but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic. The technician stated that the fuel tank had fractured and as a result, the fuel pump and fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000.

Sound of metal being dragged along the ground. Friends wired the metal piece to car's underbody and I drove over 300 miles on the highways not realizing it was the strap for the gas tank. Took it to BMW and they were unable to get it on a lift to diagnose the problem, due to time constraints. Took it to local mechanic and he put it on the lift and took off the 'broken' strap. Now waiting for two days for the piece to come from BMW. Went online and saw there were other postings on a BMW 'blog site' referring to this problem, and causing me some alarm that the gas tank could split!!! hope this isn't a problem with a lot of 328xi models!

My car had all 6 fuel injectors replaced at 35, xxx miles back in Feb of 2010. Now at 69,285 miles all six have failed again. The car went into limp mode causing someone to rear end me on an on ramp. Failing injectors seems to be a common problem for this engine. These injectors have a 120,000 mile service interval but they failed for me at nearly exactly 35,000 twice. Hopefully enough people will make this an issue to have this become a recall.

The car just stalls out. Sometimes, when I stop at a traffic light and then start to go, the car hesitate to go. It stalls in traffic. I have taken it to the dealer, but they can not duplicate the problem with their diagnostic test equipment. I am afraid that I will be hit by other cars because of it. Since the dealer can't seem to figure it out, I have been researching it on-line and lots of other people have the same problem.

I was driving on local. All of sudden, there was no response when stepping on the gas. I had to pull over the shoulder and stop the vehicle. I tried to restart the car. It didn't succeed. I had to ask for towing to the mechanic. And it turned out to be a fuel pump fuse problem. My car was just out of warranty since I bought it in Dec 2006. So I had to pay it myself for the repair ($600)

The engine stalled while driving on freeway and would not start after that. Dealer replaced fuel pump but it happened again after a week. This time dealer replaced the fuel sensor. First time the car stalled on local street but 2nd time on the freeway. Had to tow to dealer both the times. Losing engine power at highway speed is dangerous and could cause fatal accident. After a week the engine suddenly lost most of the power at highway speed and now drives at max 50mph or so. Dealer is still trying to troubleshoot the car, root cause unknown. All this happened just after 10 days of car going out of warranty.

My wife was departing a traffic circle on base here in germany. She accelerated to 35 mph and experienced stalled acceleration as she was traveling down the main road. My wife was stepping on the gas and the car appeared not to be running. She attempted to get the vehicle off to the side of the road as it rolled to a stop. She was stuck in the right hand turn lane on a two lane road and waited for security forces patrolman that stopped and helped push the car out of traffic.

On Aug 10, 2012, I was driving my 2007 BMW 328I on montague expy (county highway G4) during the peak traffic hour (6:30pm). Obviously, at that time, the road was packed with traffic, and suddenly my car engine extinguished and died right there in the middle of the expressway. I had to stay in my car for my nearly 45 minutes, too terrified to walk out of my car and also terrified to stay inside, where I was equally vulnerable. Thankfully, the car behind me had kept a good distance away and stopped too; if the driver wasn't so careful, one can only imagine a far worse situation occurring, such as a pileup. I have kept a very good maintenance record on this BMW 328I and also purchased the extension maintenance program back when I bought it, and therefore, this malfunction issue was most definitely not caused by owner ignorance or lack of care. And yet, despite having taken good care of my car, I already had to have a major engine repair on the BMW within its first two years. And just half a year ago, I had to have another major starter repair as well - I couldn't even start up the car engine. And now there's this - a car stall from a defect with the fuel pump. I find this recent incident the most aggravating and dangerous of them all; I honestly could have died. Thus I am filing this complaint to alert the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that there is a problem in particular with the BMW 328I. Hopefully once this problem is documented and BMW is notified, we can see if other BMW 328I owners have been experiencing similar problems as well, and ultimately prevent BMW owners from experiencing an incident as dangerous as mine in the future.
