My engine is being effected by the recall. There is smoke and a burning smell coming from my engine. The Recall was issued March 2 2002 and today is January 11, 2022. My truck is driving worse daily and I can not get it inspected because it will not read my system.

I just went to Union Park Bmw about my car, they stated that my car fuel pump was recalled in 2017 so it was fixed, in 2021 l was stranded twice in 100 degree weather on the side road when the fuel pump went out, so this is the third time this vehicle has had new fuel pumps, now this month on Tuesday 7 /19 when it was hot as hades it stopped again same way it did prior, had it towed and they stated it was wiring that leads to the engine from the fuel pump. They made sure as part of there man made 358.00$ diagnosis that it was not related to the fuel pum.

I was returning home from work and the engine started to sputter/vibrate. I was right next to a gas station and as I was pulling into the gas station, the engine died and would not restart. I had the car towed and then I proceeded to troubleshoot the problem. I did a fuel pressure test and found that there was no fuel pressure. I tested the fuel pump relay and found it to be operational. I accessed the primary fuel pump to check power and found the fuel pump wiring to be missing an inch of insulation on both wires and the insulation is brittle for another inch or two. There were two splices on the fuel pump wiring where recall #16V746000 was performed and a new connector was spliced in. Those two splices were melted together. Recall #16V746000 was a problem with the fuel pump connector melting due to loose wiring. I have concern that there is still an issue with the fuel system wiring overheating or the repair process is not adequate to solve the issue.

There have been two occasions that I have changed the fuel pump on my vehicle. It is extremely dangerous that it turns off suddenly. I am so afraid that this might just happen worst thing is that there are no light indicators that will tell you that there is something wrong.

I own a 2009 BMW X5 diesel. BMW has recognized an issue with a sensor in the selective catalytic reduction (scr) active tank. The tank stores diesel fluid. Diesel fluid is added into diesel to reduce the amount of emissions that is released from the vehicle. BMW extended the warranty for this part but it is unknown how they determine the amount of this extension. My vehicle is over the extended warranty by 4 months but under the mileage limit by 40,000 miles. This issue should be a recall call and not an extended warranty with limited time to repair the issue. I attempted to resolve this with sean S. at BMW customer relations by informing him that this is my commuter vehicle and I have to drive this car every day. I also informed him that if not resolved this will lead to a large amount of pollution released to the environment. Sean S. acting as a representative of BMW North America stated they are only concerned about their business and their bottom line and only will assist me if I'm a loyal customer. They viewed me as not a smart business move to fix the issue and indicated they are not concern for the environment and ok for me to continue to drive this car that is putting out 10X the amount of pollution as gas. Researching the internet there are many BMW X5 owners driving their vehicle with this defective sensor and many using hacks to trick the ECU and many using alternative non oem parts and forcing a fitment. All of this is due to the limited time BMW is offering to fix this issue and the extreme cost of the repair at a BMW service center.

Lost power while cruising at 60 M/hr. Other cars almost hit me when I was trying to move to the side for safety causing lots of traffic. Then went to the BMW dealer (patrict BMW) in schaumburg il for diagnostic and found out there was a problem in the fuel system electrically. The wiring harness were melted, blew fuse and relay and they said the motor also burned out. I will attached document from the BMW dealer for moe info.

2009 BMW X5 diesel passive tank failed. I told the dealer and called BMW customer care and told them this is emmisions related and they should have replaced it when they replaced the active tank a year ago. BMW diesels will not pass smog due to defective designs of the active and passive tanks that contain def. The sensors are located inside the tank and cannot be replaced by an over the counter BMW part. Hence the whole tanks have to be replaced. BMW customer service is not willing to help and basically told me to go buy another brand which I will after owning 4 BMW. BMW should be heavily investigated for designing a poor emmisions system found in the BMW X5 and 335D diesel vehicles sold in the usa. Shame on you BMW for screwing your loyal customes.

While driving at speeds up to 70 mph, the vehicle shuts off completely with no warning signs. When vehicle shuts off, all systems are completely off including power steering, antilock braking, the engine itself, all electrical systems, lights - everything completely powerless. The car will then not start for 10-15 minutes, but no check engine lights, and most importantly no errors logged in the computer. The first 2 times this happened was on a freeway at 60-70mph cruising speed. No sounds or warnings the X5 immediately shuts off. We have been fortunate enough to avoid a major accident or severe injury/death this could easily cause. This happened 5 times over a 14 month period, even after 2 BMW certified fixes. After the first incident, we brought it directly to BMW northwest in fife wa. The service department examined the vehicle, talked with BMW us headquarters - their recommendation was that we pay $800 to have the entire fuel system cleaned, and the cause of the problem was likely debris in the fuel lines. We consented to the fix and paid for the repair. After getting the vehicle back it happened 2 additional times. Once again on a freeway going 60 mph, another time on a side street going 30 mph. We then took it back to BMW northwest, they found that there were 3 parts in the fuel system that had not been 'recalled' but were under some type of warranty. Claimed it was a free $3500+ repair, we took it home after the 'fix'. 3 months later, the same issue occurred 1 time while driving the vehicle at about 35 mph. Took it back to BMW nw again, this time they are claiming 3 fuel injectors need to be replaced (but they recommend all 6, even though they were previously determined not to be the cause of the issue). They want to 'eliminate' the possibility with the said fix but believe that is likely not the cause and the root is electrical issues.

I am writing in regards to a technical service bulletin / recall from BMW si B16 0102 which I obtained from the NHTSA website. My BMW, [xxx], was showing an emissions fault code related to the part addressed in the unlimited age/mileage tsb. I went to the dealer regarding this item to figure out what can be done at around 110,000 miles in April of 2017. I was informed the part is not in stock. When I returned in June to see about the service being done, I was, again, told the part was not in stock - and that I also do not qualify as the vehicle now has 130,000 miles, and the new bulletin has a mileage cutoff of 120,000 miles. I was informed I could contact BMW directly and discuss a 'hardship.' Upon contacting BMW directly, I was informed that they would not do anything to help. I am attaching the original tsb and updated tsb for the diesel exhaust fluid issue. I am also attaching the response from BMW. Additionally, my vehicle is now exhibiting problems with the high pressure fuel pump, another covered emissions item for unlimited mileage; and am not seeing any resolve for that. The tsb is attached. [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).'

BMW fuel pump recall vehicle is hard to start and it is progressively getting worse. There is a mandatory NHTSA mandated fuel pump recall on this vehicle. We received the owner notification letter. I was told by the dealer at first that the fuel pump is not available. After I persisted the dealer stated that the fuel pump is available but that they have to perform a diagnostic first. A) it is unlawful to charge a diagnostic fee in conjunction with a federally mandated recall. B) the fuel pump issue has been known to BMW for many years (BMW had a voluntary reimbursement of fuel pump repairs in place until NHTSA mandated the recall of all vehicles with the affected fuel pump.) the fuel pump should be installed and the parts should be readily available. I just talked with bwm of North America customer service. They stated: * I would have to take the vehicle to the dealer and have a diagnostic run * I would be charged for the diagnostic if it turns out to be an issue other than the fuel pump * if it turns out that the fuel pump module is defective, then I would not have to pay the diagnostic fee this illegally ties a different service (that I may have to pay) to a federally mandated recall. It is not in dispute that the fuel pump recall is mandatory. It is BMW's allocation of parts availability that may result in me having to pay the diagnostic fee.
