problem #3

LeSabre Limited 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 206,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Not only does it stall while I'm driving, sometimes won't start again after it stalls so i have to pull over, it surges at idle when I start it, sputters a lot while driving and then calms itself down. I have already replaced.... MAP sensor TPS switch Mass Air Flow Idle Air Control Valve EGR Valve All vacuum lines Upper intake plenum The car isn't even worth what I've put into it in that last year but I've had it 9 years and it's still a comfortable ride. Should I give up and junk it? Not sure what other problem it can be. Checked fuel pump also and it's fine. HELP!

This car stalls without rhyme or reason at any time - high speed, low speed, stopped, at all outside temperatures... The first time it happened, shortly after I acquired it a little over a year ago, at 70 MPH on the interstate it was diagnosed as a bad fuel pump. A couple hours later it happened again when pulling out of a restaurant. I have had it to the dealer numerous times without success. No codes were found. The dealer installed a monitoring device on the car for a period but this did not help. The car always starts within a few minutes after it dies and so it is difficult to trace. The dealer replaced a crank sensor without benefit and I have replaced the battery. It can go for months without a problem and then stall three times in a 15 mile trip. The dealer suggested it may be a bad electrical connection in the fuel tank and suggested rapping on the gas tank when it happens. This seemed to help once but not in the last two incidents. I seriously considered getting rid of the car but hate to stick someone else with this. Help!
