Bought my baby off of Craigslist which was probably my first mistake. The vehicle had a rough shift problem, and it wouldn't go into gear sometimes. We took it to a shop and they first said that it was likely the pressure control solenoid and that it would be close to $800.00 to repair. Once they looked deeper into the problem they saw metal shavings and even found a washer in the filter. This meant that they had to rebuild the entire transmission, which cost me about $2000.00 that I didn't have. (I'm barely 18 and work at Kmart) Next thing you know I'm driving her home from the shop and she dies less than two miles down the road. We called the shop and of course they didn't answer because they closed right after I picked her up. So we had to call a tow truck to take it back to the shop because if we took it somewhere else they would void the warranty on their work. Waiting until Monday to see what could cause this issue. It was running perfectly fine and then suddenly the gas stopped working and all the lights came on and the engine cut out. It would not restart.

LeSabre Custom 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 69,000 miles

About three or four weeks after purchasing this vehicle in mid-July 14, it began shifting roughly from time to time. It has fixed itself multiple times. Internet research suggests it is the transmission fluid pressure sensor solenoid, which is in the $500-$1000 range to repair. It appears to be somewhat widespread, and some indication that a recall was denied. It is an electrical problem, and so far each time the ignition is turned off and the engine restarted it works properly. But the onset is completely unpredictable, and one day it's not going to reset.
