The car should have a recall. The back seat frame rubs against the fuse box located under the seat and melts the fuel pump relay causing the car to stall and not restart. I had to have the whole fuse box replaced because the relay sockets burned.

The gas pump relay keeps burning out, the box is fried. I've come to understand that this a problem that is happening in a lot of these cars. There is a problem with these cars and there has never been a recall. I'm going to my state representative to see if something can be done about this. Someone could lose their life if there is a fire and this is where peoples children usually sit.

Lucerne CXL 3.8L V6

  • 79,000 miles

I bought the car after my grandpa owned it, he took care of the car very well, so I thought I was a good buy. This is my 4th Buick. It only had 62,000 miles when i purchased it.

After putting brakes and tires on it one day at the 79,000 mile mark it died while driving. I had it towed, there was no spark so the Mechanic replaced one of the coil packs, after 1 day the same problem happened, I had the car towed again to the Mechanic who replaced the Fuel pump, after a couple of days it died again!! This time the relay was burned out so he swapped in a new one and sent me on my way......guess what, the next day I was stuck AGAIN! Towed it back and he finally replaced the control box which fixed the issue.

The mechanic called the local scrap yards to see if they had any used control boxes to save a few bucks but was laughed at and told they are grabbed the second they come into the yard being such a common problem with the vehicle. Interestingly, the Buick dealer has PLENTY of the control boxes in stock.

All told I spend close to a $1,000, unreal! It's working fine now but why has GM not stepped up and recalled this issue!!!! I'll never buy another GM if this is how they treat their loyal customers.

GM BUICK NEEDS TO STEP UP AND FIX THE PROBLEM.

If you look at Repair Pal there are 105 other people with this problem. If you do more research you find the Buick has had a problem with this over ten model years and Chevrolet goes back to 1996 on some trucks and cars. Why is this not a recall Buick GM Federal Government? Why it is safety if you lose fuel you lose power? I must need to lift weights because I weigh around 300 and turning that wheel is almost impossible. SOB. Fix it Buick, Fix it. Cover the cost, stand behind your product.

Lucerne Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,000 miles

The fuel pump shorted out causing the fuse panel to melt. this is a fire hazard this panel is under the rear seat if it would have caught on fire loss of life could have occurred.

I called Buick to complain took a while too get a US rep. and of course they couldn't or wouldn't do anything

I guess some one has to get killed to get something done to fix this as they put minor problem.

Well $1500 later I had the problem fixed hopefully they didn't use GM parts and the fix will last. That is all
