Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

Escalade 8-cyl Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 300 miles

The contact owns a 2008 Cadillac Escalade. While driving in reverse at 5 mph, the contact struck a pole. The parking assistance system (lights and chimes) was defective and did not work. He noticed the pole in the rear back-up camera, but did not know that the parking assistance system did not work at the time. The vehicle sustained damage to the rear bumper. General Motors repaired the system and informed him that the damage was his responsibility. He is currently waiting for the part to arrive in order to repair the vehicle. The current mileage was 500 and failure mileage was 300. The consumer stated the defect has since been repaired but feels the manufacturer is at fault due to the faulty utility enhancement system and would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the vehicle, however the manufacturer stated the accident was the consumer's fault.
