When reaching into the tailgate, your legs are frequently burnt if you come too close to the tailpipes that protrude from under the vehicle.

My daughter was burned twice by the tailpipe on the 2004 Srx. The first time I called Cadillac they told me that this was the only case on file regarding the tailpipe. Six weeks later she was severely burned again. This time Cadillac opened a case file and the case was closed because the vehicle was built per Cadillac specifications.

The consumer states that the tail pipe sticks out from the bumper three quarters of an inch on his 2004 Cadillac Srx. The consumer contacted GM and they told him that was the way it was manufactured. The consumer burned and his daughter burned their legs on the tail pipe.
