CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2000 Chevy Astro Van has a solid reputation with very low complaint rates. The only problem now is finding one with low miles.
Not only is the 2000 Astro Van reliable, but since they were built on a truck powertrain, they can tow 5,500/5,000 lbs (RWD/AWD) -- almost double what other minivans can.
The Chevy Astro is mechanically identical to the GMC Safari.

I 1st noticed while driving my 2000 Astro Van in November of 2008 that whenever I would put on the left turn signal, the cruise control would shut off, then my left turn signal quit working. I took it to the Dealer and my $1700 extended warranty covered it. They replaced the multifunction switch.
In November of 2009 the same thing started happening except the turn signal still worked, and the cruise would only shut down some of the time when I put on the left turn signal. The Dealer said it would cost me $288 for them to fix because I had to have the muti-function switch replaced again! I told them you just replaced it! You must have put in a defective switch. They said sorry, I was beyond (just beyond) 12 months when the last awitch was put in . This is BS in my opinion.
