Avalanche Diamond 5.3L

The dashboard is cracked in 2 places. It has decreased the value of the vehicle. I believe GM should pay to replace it.

This my second Avalanche. I had a 2011 that had the same problem. Everything I am reading on different forums is that Chevrolet/GM will not address this issue even though it happens to every type (Tahoe/Avalanche/Silverado/etc) that I see. The dash cracks right were it meets the passenger airbag. It is clearly a design defect as it is the thinnest part of the dash that takes the stress of normal expansion as well as road vibration. I understand that there might be a class action lawsuit on this.

Avalanche Bk.Diamond 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

The dashboard has 2 significant cracks at the upper left corner of air bag (not in or on airbag itself). This must be more common than I realized. I would like GM to replace my dashboard. I only have 52,000 miles on this vehicle. Great truck, that is my only complaint.

Avalanche LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,000 miles

There are two cracks. One starts at the back of the dash and comes forward, over the instrument panel. It is currently about 3 inches from reaching the front of the dash and making a complete split over the instrument cluster. The other crack is behind the passenger side airbag panel, left corner, and goes back across the 1 inch width to the back of the dash. This not only looks terrible and affects the value of the vehicle, but I don't know what extra bodily damage this compromised dash will do in a collision.

The only excuse GM could have for not fixing/replacing these is a financial one. I paid a significant amount of money for this vehicle and should not have to foot the bill for an obvious defect, especially one that could make the vehicle less safe in an accident.

I'm a Easy Care Gold member which gives me a rental car if service is going to take over night services. what James Carlow in Clarksville Tn. done was made me to stay 8 hrs waiting to fix the problem and gave me back my truck the same way it went in. My dashboard is cracked all under warranty. The dealer told me they will fixed it once the dashboard comes in, so they won't have to take it off twice!!!
