The gas pedal hangs up on the floor carpet (the wear strip integrated into the carpet that is under the gas pedal and wraps up along the side of the transmission tunnel) when the gas pedal is pressed all the way to the floor. The shaft that the gas pedal is attached to has part of it sticking out past the gas pedal and has a sharp edge that snags the edge of the wear strip. The carpet is not worn, it is in great shape, and is only getting damaged when the gas pedal snags the carpet wear strip. It has happened about a dozen times in the past 5 years. I contacted Chevrolet dealer and they never got back to me five years ago. In April 2010, it happened on a city street when I hit the gas to take evasive action to get away from another car that almost hit me in the side and the gas pedal stuck and I almost hit another car and a building. I contacted the Chevrolet dealer in sallisaw Oklahoma, and they referred me to the Chevrolet hot-line for complaints. I contacted them and waited a week for them to get back to me like they said they would, and I contacted them again and they said that they would contact me within two weeks, and it has been another week past that time. I am afraid that maybe next time I wont be able to reach down and yank the pedal up where it is snagged on the carpet.

Blazer 4WD

  • Manual transmission

Whenever foot was removed from accelerator pedal vehicle failed to slow down without depressing on brakes. Vehicle had manual 4WD. Sometimes would increase due to gravity. Had taken to dealership 4 times for this problem, but it was not resolved. Consumer states when you take your foot off the gas, sensors detect error signals, that cause the systme to inject more gas and air so the vehicle does not slow down.
