Engine is boasted to last 200,000 miles, but the engine went before the first 100,000 mile tune up. A broken cam bearing blocked the oil journal, denying oil to the cylinder, which destroyed the motor. My mechanic went on line with the symptoms, looking for similar problems, found this to be a common problem among this make. So, he used a scope to look in the valve cover, and found no oil flowing from one of the journals.

The bearing broke under normal wear. I do not race this car, I have rarely had it above 80 mph, never been above 85. I just drive it to work every day. It cost me $4k to have a rebuilt engine put in. Heavy price to pay for a broken cam bearing that obviously wasn't designed for 200,000 miles.

If you start your engine one day and hear it tapping, shut it off immediately and get it checked out, but odds are, it's already too late. Too bad, so sad. Thanks for playing. No nice parting gifts, but thank you for playing "It's Not Our Problem".
