I was leaving the gas station when a message showed up on my dash saying "Service Power Steering Drive With Care" My steering wheel got very hard and I had a very hard time turning the steering wheel to the right or left, somehow I manged to leave the store. I was really worried for my safety and others because If an accident were to happen I would not be able to turn my steering wheel to get out of the way to avoid a major accident. As I was driving home the message dispersed and the steering wheel went back to normal. I took the car into the dealership and they looked at it and said nothing was wrong with it, when clearly there was a problem with it.

The power steering shuts of randomly with loss of steering. When I try to turn under this condition, the steering wheel bounces back and forth violently. I have ran into curbs and almost hit other vehicles due to the loss of power steering. There has never been an engine light or warning lamp displayed during the loss of steering while driving the vehicle. There-€™s no way to have the issue diagnosed without a stored code.

Power steering becomes extremely hard as if there is no power steering this happens intermittently. It has almost lead me off the road many times. Dealerships do not find anything wrong. No recall but seems as if it falls under the recent recall descriptions of the problem. I feel uneasy driving this car that I'm paying so much for! it occurs during normal driving conditions driving straight or slowly turning car.

problem #7

Camaro

  • 35,500 miles
Power steering went out randomly while driving. More often at lower speeds. Battery would drain while at stoplights. Car has not been driven hard. Less than 36000 miles. Dealer states failure of power steering gear assembly. 2017 model Camaro had recall for similar power steering failure. Dealer does not recognize this as pertinent and thus will not cover expensive repair.

The contact stated that no injuries were sustained by either vehicle occupants. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The failure was diagnosed as a rack and pinion failure that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer or the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

Steering assist unstable. When suddenly turning the wheel, the tension in the wheel jumps - making it possible to turn sharper than expected. Problem seems to be internment - something stopping after driving a while. Noticed issue while driving at low speeds in the city and while stationary. May happen at higher speeds but don't turn at high speeds. May happen if trying to avoid an accident.

Dead spot in steering wheel when trying to turn right. Can be reproduced over and over again. It also makes a click. You can produce this stopped, moving, and even with car off.

I have reported multiple problems with my car to the dealership. The first was with my monitor it would work intermittently. The phone, the radio, at times it wouldn't even turn on. I was told that I had to bring it in when my car was acting up. Finally it acted up brought it in and showed them immediately but they had to keep my car for a month to recreate the problem before agreeing to fix it. Monitor finally replaced. Now my car intermittently loses its power steering. The first incident happened multiple times I finally snapped the picture on March 1st. Took car in and was told an update needed to be run and that it would never happen again. Wrong May 30th power steering went out during a downpour of rain and remained out for two days before it recovered. Took to the dealer was there 1 1/2 hours and was told they couldn't find anything wrong. Was told I need to come back when it's happening. I have pictures showing the car says service is needed but yet when I take the car in nothing's wrong. When I called I was told the earliest appointment was on Monday which is the day I brought my car in. How many times do I have to be inconvenienced before my car is fixed? this car is a lemon. The monitor was replaced and the car wasn't even a year old. The power steering is getting worse each time and is going out for longer periods of time. This has happened both times when my car has been in motion on city streets and has happened both going straight and has gone out while I was turning. Very unsafe won't go on a highway because this is dangerous. I will upload both pictures of the dash showing the monitor stating " service power steering drive with care."

The transmission fails. The car shuts off in traffic without warning or without codes sometimes in a parkimg lot and sometimes on the highway. Wont start and sometimes wont shut off. The traction control comes on and slows the car to 35mph on dry pavement. There is a clunk when shifting or driving under the car. The crank shaft has been replaced because of thrusting me forward, hard shifts and delayed shifting.
