Fuel leak at tank first occurred April 22 this year. Fuel level sender seal replaced. May !7 fuel level sender defective, fuel leak. Replaced fuel tank, sending unit seal, fuel pump. Today-July 18, massive fuel leak at tank with gasoline puddling under car while engine idling. 20 minutes of idling caused over 1 gallon of fuel to be expelled from tank. Inspection shows possible defect in fuel vapor recovery system causing excess fuel tank pressure, sufficient to cause fuel tank seal failure where sending unit mounts to tank. This is a very serious problem. A discarded cigarette could cause fuel vapors to ignite. This leak will continue to occur until source of excessive fuel tank pressure can be determined. It may be the result of failure to maintain fuel vapor recovery system or a component failure. If so, why should a failure result in massive fuel leakage? this is a problem with life threatening potential and should receive your highest priority in follow up.
