The contact was driving approximately 15 mph and experienced an unexpected loss of power steering with the illumination of the power steering warning indicator. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. Upon restarting, the vehicle operated normally for a few moments. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign id number: 10V073000 (steering:electric power assist system) however, the malfunction recurred. The vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.

The contact mentioned that the vehicle was taken to the dealer four times before it was determined that the steering column needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was not experiencing the problem until after the recall repairs. The vehicle did not have a problem before the recall repair was done. When I turn on the car in about 30 seconds the power steering light pops up and the wheel is really hard to turn. Its almost impossible to turn when getting out the parking spot.
