my 1991 chevrolet corsica LT 2.2 L did the same thing and i hated it and engine would even sound lik its gonna stall and kicks back up. try this without paying for the part. unhook your vacuum hose off your EGR valve and drive it. you should notice a great deal of change as if nothign is wrong if not try somehting else. with mine all i did was unplug the hose and i dont have to replace it its not a big deal only hting is emissions. the purpose of the EGR valve is to put the emissions back into the engine to reburn so there will be less emissions. your service engine light will not come on it will just act better. if u wanna fix it its about 50 bucks for the part and if u wanna clean it just buy 2 dollar EGR valve cleaner and a new gasket. a cheap one will do as long as its name brand. you have to replace gasket if you are going to take it off if you dont will will leak like crazy. hopes this solves your problem even tho it is a year later but for people trying to fix there car and same problem try this out. good luck ur gonna need it.
