Many say the 2011 model year suffers from a throttle lag that is probably due to a fauly electronic throttle control. The problem is signifigant enough that some owners say they are too scared to drive their cars. Those that do get behind the wheel often say their transmission isn’t shifting properly and problems start occuring as early as 15,000 miles.
All of this leads us to say you’re probably better off without this car’s headaches (they’re probably chemically-induced anyway).
The same thing that happened the Sunday before happened again! The Service Traction Control light came on again! I am really tired of all the problems with this car. This car should have been recalled. There are too many issues and I can't afford to fix it myself. I'll never buy another Chevrolet!
While driving to work, the Service Stabili Trak light came on. The car slowed down. I had a stop sign and when I put my foot on the gas, the car barely moved. It took almost three minutes before the car got up to speed which was 55. I'm so tired of these issues but I don't have the money to have it repaired. This car is a LEMON!
At high RPMs after "punching " to pass, "whistling" noise occurs at from 49 to 69 MPH but stops when accelerator is eased off.
On several occasions ,when braking applied upon closing on front traffic, car appeared to accelerate, requiring additional hard brake pedal pressure. Drove into Dealer where car was purchased and explained the problem and they kept it and said they would road test and inform me. I was explicit in my description, but later realized that what I had thought was an acceleration , was actually an absence of braking efficiency. This occurred in Sep/Oct of 2014. Dealer called, said that after test, all was normal and no charge was made. I picked up the car, and left.
Subsequently the same "whistling" occurred on acceleration, and I had two passengers confirm this oddity. I was able to continue using the car normally, but a week ago due some coolant leakage I took it to a neighborhood garage who does my normal Oil changes etc, and found a leaking water pump which had to be replaced ($900.00 worth) He called me when it was finished and said that upon test driving it he had a "power assist " failure, and apprised me of the problem noting that I should take it to the dealer and mention the TB S and recall number and request attention. I returned to the same dealer, and confronted with a printout I had received on the web. He appeared un-knowledgeable of the "recall" which incidentally to this day I have never received, and asked me where I got this info, and that my 2011 Cruz WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I told him not to worry about that, get the goddamn thing cured and I'd worry about the warranty or not by questioning with GM.
It has been in their hands for two days, and I received a call today that it would be under warranty, the "leaking vacuum hose " would be installed but they did not have the parts on hand. I told them to keep it until it was finished--it went in there two days ago, tomorrow is Sat and they are closed on Sundays.
I am not too upset with the dealer, but am furious with GM--after all according to POTUS Bin Laden is dead and GM is alive--same old Horseshit out of Washington--
Update from Feb 17, 2015: Dealer had car four days (one Sunday) but called yesterday stating finished and covered by warranty. They replaced Brake Booster Valve and hoses assembly. I tested and the "whistle" is gone. I assume problem is fixed, but will never be sure unless the power brake assist fails again as it did four times previously.
There is no "recall" on this, only a tbs to dealers so be careful--
Check engine light came on when I was visiting out of state. OnStar assured my that my vehicle was still safe to drive. When I got back home, the check engine light was diagnosed to be a break sensor issue. The sensor was replaced.

This car is a mess, brake sensor needs to be replaced. When I got the car they were supposed to have done that but they didn't, so it was never fixed.
