CarComplaints.com Notes: What’s that smell – it’s a tad sweet with a tinge of chemical toxicity? If you own a 2011 Cruze it’s probably a coolant leak. It’s a widespread and notorious problem for the car and is the subject of a class-action lawsuit filed in the state of New York. And that’s not the only problem 2011 owners face…

Many say the 2011 model year suffers from a throttle lag that is probably due to a fauly electronic throttle control. The problem is signifigant enough that some owners say they are too scared to drive their cars. Those that do get behind the wheel often say their transmission isn’t shifting properly and problems start occuring as early as 15,000 miles.

All of this leads us to say you’re probably better off without this car’s headaches (they’re probably chemically-induced anyway).

The outer rim of the wheel broke off from the inner 'star' of the wheel leaving the inner part of the rim and the lug nuts attached to the car. The tire and outer rim detached from the car causing damage to the car's body. The car fell to the pavement when the outer rim broke away causing body damage to the front end of the car. This occurred around 7:30pm on 2/29/2016. The pavement was dry, clear and free of debris.

Three weeks ago, I started hearing a noise from the back left tire. Two days ago the esp and traction light went on as well as the brake fluid light. Everything just started hitting at the same time. I think the car is rigged to have everything go bad once the warranty period is up. Would like to know if this is covered since so many people are having problems with it. I can't afford to fix it but this is my only means of transportation.

Hello, my name is [xxx] and I am an israeli citizen. I own a Chevrolet Cruze 2011, israeli VIN: [xxx]. I read the articles regarding issues found in the vehicle's ignition switch for some Chevrolet models but I haven?T read about cruse as a suspect to such an issue. I wanted to pay your attention to an issue I had with my car around 1.5 years ago which is similar behavior to what you found out with the other models. After starting the engine while in parking, I switched the gear to reverse and started to drive back to get out of the parking space when suddenly I lost the steering of the wheel (like there was no oil pressure) and lost the brakes (the paddle was stiff and did not control the wheels). During the incident my family, including my wife, was with me in the car. My wife immediately understood that something was wrong and started to ask me what is the matter (she was an eye witness to the scenario). I had to shut down the engine (turned the key to off) and started the engine back again in order for the car to start reacting properly again. Needless to say my wife and I were shocked by this and I took the car on the morning of the next day to the formal Chevrolet garage to report the incident and request them to check what went wrong here (as the formal garage ? they hold an historical record of my complaint). After I was told by the garage that they couldn't find any problem, I had no choice but to accept the car but it bugged me until present time. In order to make sure your investigation will not skip a possible fatal issue with the cruse model (if the issues are the same), I simply wanted to point your attention to my small "adventure". please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to assist you further (if needed) ? email: [xxx] cellular:[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact noticed that the tire pressure light was illuminated, indicating that the the front passenger side tire was flat. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the rear driver side tire was flat and not the front passenger side tire, as the warning light indicated. The contact replaced the tire with the spare. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 26,861.
