CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2006 Equinox is plagued by a heating problem, as in the heater only blows cold air.

The reported cause of this problem is a small door, known as the air temperature blend door, which allows air to flow past the heater core. This door has a plastic connecting shaft to an electric motor and the shaft is prone to breaking after a few years. The problem has a typical repair cost of over $800.

The 2006 Equinox also has a number of reported problems ranging from the key getting stuck in the ignition, to failing speed sensors, and trouble starting the engine. All in all, this car sounds like one worth avoiding.

interruption of fluids for a second or two

HAVE BENN TO 3 DIFFERENT CHEVROLET DEALERS. MY DEALER I USED FOR YEARS, STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM ON THIE ANALYZER MACHINE. THE SECOND DEALER MONTHS LATER STATED IT WAS A TEMPERATURE ERROR, THE GAS TANK WAS TAKEN DOWN AND THEY REPLACED A COIL PACK, I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER TOLD THEM I WAS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS, THE DEALER SAID THEY FOUND A SPARK PLUG WASN'T WORKING AND IT WAS REPLACED.

THE PROBLEM STILL EXIXTS. I DECIDED TO GET ANOTHER DEALERS OPINION. THE 3RD DEALER FOUND A BURN VALVE, BURN VALVE AND ACCESSORIES WAS REPLACED IN NOV 28-30, 2012.

THE MOTOR SOUNDS AND IGNITES AND APT AFTER THE VALVE WAS REPLACED, MILEAGE DURING

THE REPLACEMENT WAS 90,000.MY EQUINOX STILL HAS THIS ANNOYING HIPCUP FEELING FROM TIME TO TIME THAT ANNOY YOU AND MAKE U WORRY. OH I FORGOT TO MENTION THE LIGHT STAYS ON FROM TIME TO TIME, MY FIRST DEALER STATED IT WAS THE GAS CAP, WHICH I ASKED THEM TO REPLACE AND THEY NEVER DID. ON ONE VISIT THE FIRST DEALER STATED THE LIGHT WAS ON BECAUSE OF A CABIN FILTER . THE CAR WAS RARHER NEW A THAT TIME. THAT SAME LIGHT IS STILL COMING ON AS OF TODAY FROM 20 SOME THOUSAND MILES TO 90,000 MILES
