The car wouldn't start in colder weather, even -5 yet the battery is only 1 year old. I was told this was a common problem. Constantly had to boast my engine. Now its July and it works fine but bracing myself for Winter.

My bluetooth audio won't work now for calling. When the anti lock breaks are activated, the radio and screen cut out. Will update in winter when it becomes an issue again.

Car started effortlessly when jumper cables are hooked up.

When will this problem be addressed and fixed by GM? This is a very common issue with this year and model! Every single one of the mentioned issues by the fellow Equinox owners on here is what I am dealing with currently. One thing I did not see on here is after getting jumped off one afternoon, I got a message stating that engine maintenance was required and it would take onstar around 10 minutes to complete......4 hours later...... i think I will be trading it off if I have one more issue! Get your sh*t together GM!

For the last six months I have been experiencing the same problem. The battery goes dead when parked overnight or for an extended time during the day.

What I have Tried: 1. Replaced battery, 2. Dealer diagnosed and replaced switch in driver door that had something to do with the car thinking the door was still open when closed. So far, after $700, nothing has solved the problem.

My own investigation revealed that the radio sometimes stays on after the driver door is opened and closed, even with the keys out of the ignition. I think this may go away by jiggling the keys in the ignition with the radio on and door open until the radio quits. (This was my workaround solution for a while, but even that doesn't stop it now). Should I be suspicious of the ignition switch? I can't keep putting hundreds of dollars into it. Car is parked with no insurance as it is not dependable.

The engine has been slow to turn over so I had the battery checked ta two different locations with the same result. Battery was nearly dead. Replaced the battery., engine turned over immediately. Drove the car 25 miles to my home parked and let it cool off. Hour later checked and once again the engine would not catch and making whining noise. Took it to dealer They did not have anyone available to check it service manager did not know what could be draining the battery, he made a few guesses. Will have to return this week. Also have had a problem with the automatic shut off at the gas pump, this has been a problem since purchase. Dealers mechanics said they never heard of a problem with gas shut off. Just read complaints about this problem.

HMMM? I will post my experience with the diagnosis next week.

I received this brand new 2015 Equinox from my company, a nice job perk. It was delivered to me with 205 miles on it. By the time I hit 500 miles the radio / control / computer froze and it seemed to do it after using the sync feature. The radio displayed the station but there was no audio and it just froze. Couldn't change the station, could turn it off, sync didn't work, etc. By the time I parked and shut off the vehicle the screen went off but the back light remained illuminated. When I turned on the vehicle again the screen was blank and radio / computer unit dead. After that whenever shutting the vehicle off the back light stays on and drains the battery. If you're lucky to jump it (and finding the negative battery post is virtually impossible) the computer resets itself and is fine for a while until it freezes up. I called fleet management who is sending a tow truck now. I want the dealer to see this. The last time I took it in for an oil change I had the dealer check but of course they couldn't diagnose anything since everything was working.

The other annoying problem is that the passage no seat bell chime goes off when there's no one next to me. I believe it's tied into the same core issue. The dealer claims it's because I had weight on the seat.....yeah, it was my cell phone. I wouldn't never buy on of these vehicles on my own. That's Government Motors for you.

The 2015 Equinox I lease has been terrible. The battery has died many times. I have jump start in regularly. Its have been to the dealership 4 times. The problem is electrical. The radio doesn't work, Bluetooth doesn't work, back doors don't open from the inside even though they are unlocked. Going back to the dealer for the 5th time tomorrow.

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,500 miles

I bought a new car with 2 must haves. 1, all wheel drive 2, sync my phone to my car. At first I loved it, read my texts and I could talk hands free. One day I went out to my car it would not start, not even turn over, jumped it, it happened again, and again. I took it back to the dealer to no avail. It's the On Star so I pulled the fuse. The car is running fine but no syncing my phone. I contacted GM, the engineers are working on a fix. This is a pain!

electrical drain drawing down battery

Picked up the car on 4-10.On 4-15 the radio locked up and wouldn't work. Also noticed the USB connected to my phone was not charging it. The next morning the car wouldn't start. It was towed to the dealer waiting to find out the problem.

Update from Apr 22, 2015: Well the first trip back to the dealer they said it was a bad battery. The second time it happened they listened to the sequence that caused the problem. When done charging the phone and making calls connected to the USB port the radio stops working. The next day the battery is drained and will not start.

Equinox LS 2.4L 4

The computerized radio has locked up, like a cheap computer, three times in the first 7,000 miles. The radio reset after starting the car again the first two times, but the third time the radio display panel stayed on after the ignition was switched off. Killed the battery so dead the dealer's maintenance guys who came out to the house couldn't get it started and it had to be towed. Problem hasn't been resolved yet.
