Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

2012 Chevrolet Express Owner Comments

problem #2

Jul 142015

  • 13,081 miles

Driver's setabelt locks up, preventing the belt from being drawn off the reel. This prevents the driver from using the seat belt. The issue occurs while the van is parked and stationary, repeated attempts to give slack on the reel and extend it are unsuccessful. This is the third Chevrolet express van my company owns that has experienced this problem.

Driver's seat belt reel seized while the vehicle was parked so the belt could not be extended and buckled. The operator was not able to wear the seat belt as required by law. Vehicle was brought to the Chevrolet dealer and repaired under tsb 05-09-40-002G today, a second vehicle of the same make/model 2014 model year experienced the same problem.
