the blinkers just work when they want too, this is a serious problem when you have children in the car and you have to switch lanes or turn, I have to speed up ahead of people then quickly turn so I, and my kids don't get our butt rear ended.

Turn Signals never work in this piece of crap just think GM should go bankrupt by paying us all back for our purchases. Kids find it funny when they do they even count to see how many times they blink. GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY

Fix. Turn signals and hazard are on one switch on the dash. Problem is cold solder joints on small board on the switch. First fix I re soldered loose connection on board, worked for a while. Finally simply changed switch with a new one. Take off dash. About 5 screws, pop out hazard switch replace. Problem solved.

Many times when I tried to use my turn signals, it will blink once (if that) and then go out. I would lose all electrical signaling capabilities. Sometimes, if I activated my hazards, the turn signals would work again for a short period of time.

I've had many trips to the shop to figure out this dangerous problem. Finally a mechanic was playing with the hazard light button while the turn signal was on. If he moved the switch around, the signal would work. He replaced the switch for $45 and hasn't been a problem since.

I noticed about three months ago the turn signals started working only sporadically. It was driving me nuts and the repair shop couldn't tell me what was wrong and they are honest so they didn't want to replace something when they didn't know exactly for sure what the problem was. I was grateful but knew if I went to the dealership they were going to charge an extensive amount in labor fees and quite frankly with the car being 6 years old I wanted to have this fixed as inexpensively as possible.
Finally, now three months later, my brother who is a car fanatic and works on his own, (should have asked him a long time ago) figured out that it was the hazard switch. He can fix it for me no problem. The problem is obtaining the damn switch! I have tried 2 dealerships and 3 online stores including GM PARTS DIRECT.com and the part is on national backorder.
The one dealership that I bought the car from, I believe, does not even want to attempt to help me... although I know from research there isn't an exact recall on the IMPALA there is an exact recall on the MALIBU for this same problem and during the first few years I had the car, when there was no problem, 2001-2003, apparently dealers were fixing this problem left and right on the IMPALA. Dealerships are full of crap and worthless in my opinion.
So now I just have to wait until the part becomes available so my brother can save me the $200 in labor to fix it and it's only a $30 part by the way. At least I know how to get them working again by jostling the hazard switch.

Intermittently the turn signal will not work, the turn signal will come back on if I turn the hazards on, once during a long drive the turn signal automatically fixed itself and worked again with out having to use the turn signal. I don't turn or switch lanes much during my drive to works so it is only annoying not dangerous yet.

My turn signals began suddenly to sometimes work. There is no pattern to it. Sometimes they worked for a short time, sometimes not at all, or they would come on, work for first use, and then not again till maybe days later. They really don't work when you need them most, like traveling in busy heavy traffic, and you have to try to use a hand signal! Duh!!! This is 2007, not the 50's. And I paid hard-earned money for this nice car, that I loved. It is the 1st new car I have ever owned, and I intend to drive it till the wheels roll off!!!!! I travel with a 2 yr old to a busy city to work. I commute 60 miles a day and this is the car I drive, sometimes scared to death in traffic. Please help..........

turning signals work only when they want. It is completely random and when they don't work the hazards lights won't either. Took it to the shop and was told it was a common problem with GM and had to replace a switch or sensor in the steering column for over 200 dollars. Aren't this kind of things supposed to be fixed by GM???

This is a serious problem! My turn signals don't always work (it's about 50/50). This is very dangerous in heavy traffic. I never know if they will come on when I need them. The dealership has had a hard time diagnosing because they usually work when the car is there.......(of course!)They said they could "try" replacing the switch in the signal; arm( but no guarantees this will fix the problem)It is very, very frustrating......... don't know where to turn

Keyless entry stopped working in August and had Receiver and BCM replaced. Two weeks later the turn signals started failing sporadically. Service advisor at dealer didn't think the BCM would be causing the problem. He thinks maybe the turn signal switch on the steering column is the problem--but the trouble is intermittent and I don't care to pay them to guess what the problem is. Also, sometimes the Auto traction activates when I first start up and turn some times when there is no traction loss.

My turn signals seem to work on their own schedule. Sometimes they will work and sometimes they won't. There is never any warning, they just won't come on. Usually when the turn signals won't work neither will the hazard lights. I have taken it to the dealership and they told me that it would cost me $90 per hour to try to chase down the problem and it usually about 5 hours to do this. Anyone that has experienced this problem and knows something about it that could help me, before I spend nearly $500 to maybe find the problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

This is Bull$hit! my 2001 Impala is a good car but the damn Turn signals and brake lights quit working one day. I was turning a corner and ... No turn signals or brake lights. LUCKILY my husband was behind me and let me know that my brake lights went out too. If it were someone else I could have been rear ended. GM had better do something about this $hit!
