Steering started clunking at 17,000 miles. Dealer replaced intermediate steering shaft twice and lubed it twice- all within 3 years! A year later, it's back. Now I've noticed my engine shifts whenever the steering wheel is turned!!!!!!!! Mechanic has never seen that happed before.

Okay, I started getting this clunking noise in the steering so I asked my shop foreman what it could be...answer: the intermediate steering sector (???). It either needed to be replaced or it could be greased, but not by me. I don't know if this was something that Chevrolet "experimented" with or if it was intentional, but I do know that I'll never be guilty of buying another GM product. By the way, the entire suspension system on this model is a piece of ****. Mushy, even after changing out the struts, is a nice way to put it.

My regular mechanic said it was a broken "drag link". He did that and I still have the same complaint...which he calls "steering box chatter". It still "clunk-clunks" when I turn the wheel all the way left or right. It does not feel "solid" like it did when I got the car. I know the dealer will only see dollar signs if I bring it there...sooner or later it will cost me. I don't feel safe driving it...buy who can you trust these days to just fix the problem....
