$630 quote from GM dealer. I can buy a whole used steering column from wrecking yard with good used parts for $150.

The problem was fixed in about 1 hour. It would have taken less time had the tech not talked on the phone for 30 minutes. The repair consisted of a complete replacement of the neutral safety switch and wiring harness. The dealer I bought the car from Paid 300.00 of the 560.00 repair. I was OK with that. Year later no problems. Hope this will help someone else with this dilemma because talking to other owners; a couple of them had the same problem.

I have owned this car for about 3 months and twice now while driving at night with the headlights on and the headlight switch pulled out (on), the lights turned off. Not a good thing to happen at night. After turning the switch off and on, voile, lights. Has any one else had this problem and if so what is the fix. Thank You

Driving down the road at 75 mph and have your headlights quit is not what I consider a great experience. When it happened to me, I did not have the headlight switch pulled, was running on the automatic lights. When the lights went out I braked and pulled on the switch and nothing happened. After I came to a full stop they came back on.
I have discovered the lights will go out only on highbeam while on Auto setting, this can happen at any time. Using the dimmer will bring them back on and I have not had them go out "yet" while the switch was in the on position.
