My oil keeps leaking out and I have to keep adding to it. I've tried sealants but none of them work to stop it from leaking as well as a sushi in my dash.

When backing out of the drive way and go to accelerate the ABS/traction control engages and causes the car to stop. It also happens on the road once U come to a stop and or stop and turn onto a street or highway. Almost got rear ended a few times. I read online at its happening alot to people all over. This problem is constant ever since I bought the car. Previous ower advised me of the problem as well.

Turned on my car started pushing on the gas my car made a weird vibration type sound. Came up on message board traction control after a couple times of it doing that, the ABS and tax light come on and on the message window it says system traction service. It kinda freaked me out cause I was stopped at a red light went to go hit the gas and it said traction control and I moved a little than I had to let go of gas then try again. Also have had a couple incidents where I go to break and it makes a vibration feeling on the brake and brings up traction control again. Really would like this checked out very concerned. Don't want to get in an accident cause my car fails to take off.

I've owned a 2004 Chevrolet Impala for the past 7 years. Every year or so my ABS, service traction system, and track off lights usually during a non-event situation. I put my brakes on and they lock and all of a sudden all my lights are on. I've spent a lot of money constantly fixing this problem. Everyone else with an Impala seems to have constant issues with this as well. I'm now being asked to completely change out my ABS module & controller for a whopping $3K on a vehicle with only 130K miles after already spending thousands of dollars over the years for ABS/traction issues. This is clearly a persistent safety issue which is costing Impala owners an arm and a leg and needs to be looked into. I've owed many vehicles with much higher mileage and never had issues like this before.

I have been experiencing a traction control problem. When I make sharp turns the service traction system light comes on, after this light comes on it pulls to the right and makes it hard to stop and even slides sometimes. I have replaced all speed sensors and replaced the wires and the problem is still reoccuring.

Frequently, the ABS activates the brakes while in motion and no pressure is placed on the brake pedal. Usually the ABS light and traction control turn on afterwards and indicate they are now disabled. Sometimes the lights turn on when the engine is started. The dealer said the speed sensor was defective, so they were replaced twice, but this did not fix the problem. This portable had been ongoing for over 6 months.

While driving down the highway I saw some smoke or steam coming from under the right dash. I didn't know what it was, so I check my gauges and every thing looked ok, I continue to driving trying to make it to my mothers house. The car cut itself off and I shift to N and roll into the driveway. I got out went into the house for a couple of min. When I return the car was smoking, I dash water on top of the hood but the smoke turn into flames that's when I called 911. Help came and was able to put the fire out.

Faulty/worn ignition switch in this vehicle will generate the following issues: (determined through trial and error due to chronic electrical issues:) 1). Engagement and disablement of ABS system because of lack of good power to the system from the ignition switch circuit. 2). entire loss of directional system(turn signals) again because of lack of good power to the system from the ignition switch circuit. These two situations lead to vehicle that is unsafe to drive at the time of the failure which may happen stationary or while in motion. These issues were intermittent and would happen at any time. Ignition switch in a vehicle should not generate issues such as this.

Service traction system light has gone on a number times and then went off again. Now, when it goes on the ABS light and the traction off lights also go on. They usually go off while driving. These warning lights do not always go on. If they are going to go on, it will generally be on start up. Today all three lights went on at start up, but the service light went out and the ABS and traction lights remained on. Turned vehicle off, then back on and the two lights remained on. I've been told it's a common problem with Impala, you can spend a lot of time and money trying to figure out the defect without success. I'm worried that our safety might be in jeopardy.

My wife was driving home from work when the engine stopped running and caused her to have to pull off the road. It took several minutes before car would restart. Since the first time she had this happen at least 3 times a year since. I've driven the car several times after she has told me it happened again and had our mechanic look at it also. Also have had the instrument panel gauges not working properly for 2 years now and haven't been able to figure out why, we think there is a short somewhere in the electrical system but have not been able to pin point it. The chrome plate aluminum alloy rims the chrome has been flaking off since the car was 2 years old and we now have to keep refilling the tires with air at least once a week. Have gone to the dealer a couple of times but get a run around that its not a problem with the car. I have talked to a gentleman who also has the only other 2004 Impala ss in our town and he has the same problems as we have had and gotten same response from our local dealer where we both bought our cars from. My Impala ss at this time has just over 80,000 miles on it and in addition to problems mentioned above we had to have power steering pump, rack in pinion and alternator replaced and looking like the rack in pinion is going out again as I write this. I've become very disappointed with Chevrolet over this car.

Chevrolet Impala 2004, traveling on a 4 lane divided highway, at 65mph, using cruise control, 2 adult passengers using seatbelts, driver saw truck entering the intersection from the drivers right side. The driver accelerated and swerved to avoid a collision. The Impala was struck by the truck. Skid marks were made on the highway by the tires of the Impala from the impact to where the Impala stopped and the engine stopped. The driver worked to put the car into park to restart the Impala in order to move the Impala to a safer position on the highway, out of the lanes of traffic. Upon stopping the driver turned off the ignition key to the off position. The key was not on a key ring. The key had been removed from the fob and key ring upon receiving the safety recall notice, GM recall 14350. The hazard blinkers were turned on. The driver and passenger moved to the adjacent frontage road. The driver of the truck called the local police. The driver of the Impala called 911. A police report was made. Pictures were taken of the damage to both vehicles and the skid marks on the highway, made by the Impala. No skid marks were visible along the path traveled by the truck. The Impala hazard blinkers were turned off. The driver attempted to start the Impala. The Impala did not start. The passenger worked to start the Impala, the dash lights did not turn on, the head lights did not turn on. A witness moved a vehicle into position to facilitate a "jump start", the Impala started, the security warning light was illuminated. The Impala was driven a short distance and parked, odometer reading 297336. Arrangements for repair have yet to be determined.

@ 65mph traffic came to a slow down, I had plenty of space 2 stop if I had 2 in my lane. I applied the brakes & the wheels locked up & was skidding out of control, it surged into the lane left of me & the rear slid over where I was sideways. I tried to control my steering but it would not respond, then it went into the lane right of me nearly missing a truck it shot over to the right lane and was now on the shoulder where I still had no control of any steering at all.then the car slammed into a concrete retaining wall and finely the car stopped.the air bags driver and passenger never inflated. Damage to the front end was a total loss including the hood, both right and left side fenders had crunched, the driver and passenger doors bent then the battery died.I already replaced a battery three weeks ago from some kind of electrical system was malfunctioning.
