Water runs in on passenger side from cowl under windshield thru blower fan. Design flaw in body style. Soaks carpet and corrodes wiring harness running under seats causing numerous electrical problems ie: rear window defroster, stop, turn, running, back-up lights and worst of all radio. GM made a part to fix it but never issued a recall and most of the dealers don't know about it. I had mine fixed at local body shop
I have water leaking under the dash of my 2005 chev Impala. The car was bought second hand and I've had it for aprox. 2 1/2 years, no problems. The problem started in July. Every times it rains I get water running down under the dash of the passengers side unto the carpet. It is quite a lot of water. I have to clean it out every time it rains with a shop vac. My insurance will not fix it. I only have power train warranty on it, so they will not fix it. I remember hitting a large bump or pothole on the trans Canada highway and after that is when the problem started. I'm just wondering, would it have anything to do with the seal around the heater box.
I OWN A 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA .BASE MODEL.3.4 V6 53.000 MILES.I HAVE WATER GETTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR.SOMEONE TOLD ME MY COWL SEAL IS THE PROBLEM.I DON'T KNOW.THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE DASH TO GET TO IT, AT A COST OF 2 THOUSAND DOLLARS.( I WASN'T BORN YESTERDAY).THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY TO FIX IT. IF THERE IS SOMEONE THAT CAN SHED LIGHT ON THIS, YOU WOULD BE HELPING A DROWNING GUY OUT.THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND TROUBLE
The seals used on this car are substandard at best. I was driving the car in the rain and one day I started to get wet. The seal around my window was leaking water into the car. Not to mention that the interior noise of the Impala is atrocious. I've had cars that were fifteen years old and the seals around the windows were still water tight.
Once again, way to go GM. I have always been Pro-American when it comes to cars but after this car I will never buy another GM for as long as I live. It's to the point now that if you want a quality car that will last you past the payoff date you have to buy foreign. I purchased a Nissan several months later and have not had one bit of trouble with the car.
