We had the same experience with the headlights shutting off while driving. I didn't get it looked at yet just found this site and surprised to see this is real problem. We just bought the car and are new to impala's. Hope there's a easy fix to this or a recall.

I was driving down the road when i came to a light and realized my daytime driving lights didn't look like they were even on. I pulled in to a parking lot to check. When i look at them they were both really dim and even flashing. I took the car right to a dealer and had them go over it to see what was wrong. Of course the car was not cover. They told me that my entire wiring system was fried and that i would have to have it all replaced. I had the bcu and all the wires completely removed and replaces. They gave me the parts at my request and the wires were actually melted together. Everything was toast. 1200 dollars later the car was back on the road.
