The reduced engine power came up on the dashboard car started to not start or shut off while I was driving. I took the car to berglund Chevrolet in roanoke va. They charged me for putting another one on but I have been having the same problem. All of this started in January. Berglund was telling me that it was my battery there was nothing wrong with the battery. They also did a tune up on the car but only changed the spark plugs they told me that wires was not included in a tune up just the spark plugs.

I was left sitting on the side of the road. I was going 70 mph on I-94 when the "service traction control" light came on, followed by the "engine power reduced" light, then something about "disabling throttle" sensor... my car shut completely down, leaving me to coast across 4 lanes of traffic on interstate 94. I've owned this 2008 Impala for just about a year... I don't know what to do I received the letter about an extended recall back in December and I called GM because there's a stipulation of the amount of miles you can have on your car to have this problem repaired... because my car has 276000 miles GM told me there is nothing they can do, at that time I asked why this item wasn't recalled. I was told if I felt the problem called for a recall I should reach out to the national highway and safety commission. I don't even feel comfortable driving my car anymore... this is a death trap!

Both rear passenger door locks stop working prior to 60,000 miles. They would work randomly and eventually stopped working all together. After researching the issue there are several hundred complaints on websites and it appears to be that they used a lubricant that becomes too solidified. If I were in an accident I wouldn't be able to unlock the rear doors using the key fob or the power unlock. It has to be done manually and they are very difficult to reach from the front seats.

Fowler Chevrolet, part of www.fowlerauto.com/ with fowler Toyota, repaired our 2008 Impala after an accident. First round repairs were $9,800 on a $12,000 vehicle and then carfax showed frame damage above and beyond the accident notation after the repairs! on the same day of the accident, I emailed the body shop "please don't proceed with significant repairs until the frame structure is determined to be fine ", but they started without contacting me. Our insurance covered like tires and the dealership even wanted me to go get the replacement Goodyear tire and bring to the dealership! it was in the shop over 7 weeks and insurance only covered for 30 days of a rental vehicle, but since we were renting from their fleet, they had no incentive to get it done. We ended up taking it to southpointe Chevrolet to minimize the noises coming out of the repair area and have never been reimbursed. I requested quality assurance in writing regarding the repair area after the carfax concerns. I also requested more information regarding if the welder was certified etc..., but have not received anything substantial in writing. The body shop manager, chris helm, was terminated soon after our repairs. The body shop manager stated that General Motors/Chevrolet sent in a representative to review the repairs and backed the dealership 100%. I requested something in writing from General Motors/Chevrolet after sending the picture of the repairs and they won't put anything in writing. Fowler Chevrolet and fowler auto group refuse to resolve the outstanding issues. I will never use them again. Can you help prevent other unsafe repairs like in the picture?

Was on my way home from work and the transmission started slipping out of gears. Came to a stop at a traffic light and when the light turned green I could not go toward. Engine just revved. Had the car towed and was told I needed to replace transmission control solenoid because that was the issue. Had part replaced only to find the tranny itself went. Did some research and it looks like this is a very common problem and I am not the only one experiencing this issue. Why isn't this issue or defect under recall when its such a common problem and very costly as well?

Driving down the highway the alert signal beeped and my console showed the error message "service traction control, reducing engine power" it dropped my speed on the highway dangerously fast to 20 miles per hour. I the foot pedal replaced at a local dealer, then it happened 2 more times. The last time I was on a frontage road and my car turned off. Apparently this is a sensor issue that is common to the Chevrolet models and especially the Impala judging by the forums. This is dangerous as when the car turns itself off the power steering, lights, everything goes and it is sudden. The third time it happened the error message came on and 3 seconds later the car turned off.

Came to get in and unlock car when I noticed only the front passenger door unlocks. Had to climb through the car (while 5 months pregnant) to unlock both backseat doors for my niece and infant nephew to get them in the car. The 3 locks, besides passenger front, only work maybe once a week randomly. I have my first child on the way in November, and now I have to worry if I will have to set my baby on the ground during winter to climb through the car to unlock the back door manually.

This car had to be towed on above date due to inability to shift out of "park". the mechanic removed the center console and repaired a broken ground wire to the inter-shift lock. I had to pay out of pocket $383 for a broken wire no bigger than a strand of hair. There is no guarantee that this won't happen again or possibly next time it will be the key ignition wire that will break which is found in the same solenoid. I feel that this is a flaw in GM manufacturing of this type of vehicle. I have reviewed hundreds of other GM complaints of this same nature. I definitely agree that this problem needs to be reviewed by GM and a recall is warranted. I would also like to include that there is definitely a problem with this vehicle's power locks. My rear power locks would not unlock when the lock button was depressed. I have had this problem repaired twice within the past 2 years and now the rear locks will not open again unless I reach over the seat and manually unlock them myself.

I have a 2008 Chevy Impala lt with 33,619 miles on it. It has the Goodyear Eagle LS2 tires it came with when I bought it new in 2008. I recently had a rear leaky tire so I took it to a garage and they repaired it. While it was off the rim I noticed what looked to me to be very excessive wear to the inside sidewall of the tire. It was so unevenly worn it shocked me. I could see cords from the belts in several spots. The mechanic and I checked the other rear tire and found it to be in the same condition. He advised me to get them replaced soon as possible and to rotate the tires more often. We checked the front two tires and found them to have nearly twice as much tread and no sidewall damage that we could see. Today I purchased two new tires and the mechanic who installed them suggested I get a rear wheel alignment as this make and model are notorius for rear alignment issues. Being skeptical I decided to research it myself online before committing. I was shocked again to see so many people complaining of the same issue and GM's lack of response to the problem. I decided to write to this Agency and voice my concerns. What if anything is being done to look into this" does someone have to be injured before anything gets done? my dad used to say whats right is right but GM's denial of a problem is not right. In this troubled economy especially, big business should be held responsible when they put out a product with issues that impact the safety and pocketbook of their customers. 2008 Chevy Impala $27,000. Two new tires $254. Future alignments and parts, labor, etc - "

  • 6,000 miles
dates and mileage is estimated as listed above* I bought a brand new Impala in April of 2008. I was advised at my first oil change at 3000 miles that my tires needed to be rotated because they were wearing due to mileage. I did not do this because I could not believe a brand new car at 3000 miles needed a tire rotation. I was also starting to notice that the back end was sliding and felt like it was "rolling", especially in ice and snow. I was advised at my second oil change (6000 miles) that my tires were almost "shot" and needed to be replaced. I was also informed this was because I had failed to rotate my tires. A friend who is a master mechanic felt that I needed an alignment on the car. He told me to take it back to the dealer where I bought the car and have everything replaced under warranty. In may of 2009, at approximate 6K-7K miles, I took the car to art moehn. They advised that I voided my tire warranty by not having my tires rotated. A month later I had a blowout on one of my tires. I had the tire replaced, and had an alignment done on the car. Shortly thereafter, I had a new set of tires put on. In the next two years, the same thing happened. By 2011 at about 50K miles, I was on my third set of tires and had had my car aligned two times. We then found out that GM had issues with some of these 2008 Impala - with very similar stories of what I had been thru. I contacted GM customer service to ask for help with this car - requesting they fix the problem. They insisted I have yet another alignment and assessment "at my cost" at their specified dealer. Imagine my frustration when this alignment (less than 3 mos from the previous one) yielded results that the car was already out of alignment!!! GM offered me a $1000 gift cert toward the purchase of another new GM vehicle. Please help. This car is a safety hazard & needs to be fixed.

While attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle hesitated before jerking into gear. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure after driving it over 140 miles. After licking up the vehicle, the vehicle continues to intermittently hesitate while accelerating and would jerk in various gears. The first failure mileage was around 60000 and the currurt mileage is 88000. Also sometimes would jerk from 1st gear to second gear. I have contacted the dealership again to again check out my problem. The car is still in the warranty period. After researching this problem online that other people have posted, it all seems to point to a pressure solenoid in the transmission but the dealership will not replace the part unless they can duplicate the problem.
