At about 86,000 miles I began getting a grinding noise from the left front side the wheel seems to lock up associated with a grabbing that I can feel when turning the steering wheel to the left. When this happens the Service Stability Trac and Service Trac Control indicators sometime appear but not always. I took my car to a GM Dealer locally a diagnostic performed said it was wheel hub assembly (bearings). Due to cost of dealer labor I took car to my local mechanic at his private garage. He performed a diagnostic and confirmed the assembly should be replaced. The assembly was replaced at my cost and has since been replaced twice more as warranty replacement because the mechanic thought the assemblies may have been defective, this after only a couple thousand miles or so on the replaced assembly. Typically, it happens at low speed, and mostly when turning left. It becomes a problem when I'm driving in busy traffic and turning at an intersection because it will just lock up and not let me go, stopping me in the middle of the intersection subjecting me to the possibility of being crashed into by other drivers. It is very frightening when this happens.

When turning left the wheel locks up as it would if the car were sliding on ice. The stability track alert comes on. It becomes a problem when I'm driving in busy traffic and turning at an intersection because it'll just lock up and not let me go, stopping me in the middle of the intersection.

When driving, loss of power steering, ABS, stabilitrack. This is a huge safety problem. This issue does not matter on road conditions. It happens whenever. The ring on the back of the wheel bearing gets weather elements behind it (mostly talking about water in the winter then freezes). This cause the ring to break. Once this ring is broke. I am assuming the ABS cant keep track of the vehicle's motion. It then throws the codes. To tell do a visible inspection looking for the ring to be compromised. Don't worry your wheel bearing might not be bad. You just have to go to Chevy and spend 190$ on a new wheel bearing.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. While driving 50 mph, the ABS and service power steering warning indicators illuminated, causing the steering wheel to seize. The contact pulled over, shut off the vehicle, restarted the vehicle, and the failure went away. Two days later, the steering failed and the warning indicators illuminated again. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer (walker Chevrolet, carothers pkwy, franklin, tn, 37067) while manually controlling the steering wheel. The vehicle was diagnosed that the rear passenger wheel bearing failed and that there was no connection to the power steering. The rear passenger bearing hub and assembly were replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: [xxx]. the dealer reassured the manufacturer that the vehicle was repaired; however, no further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 70,017. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

At about 85,000 miles I am getting a grinding noise from the left front side. Dealer said it was bearings, which I had replaced at a private garage. Now the sound is back after only a thousand miles or so. Typically, it happens at low speed, and mostly when turning left.

While traveling at highway speed in light blowing snow, vehicle began to vibrate. Vibration was extreme and constant. After contacting two Chevrolet dealerships we were advised it was a common problem with snow building up on rims. We were advised to power wash the inside of the rims. This was done and the problem was fixed. During the approximate 800 mile trip in and out of snow this had to be done twice. Chevrolet was contacted and we were advised there was nothing they could do. The vibration becomes violent enough that highway speeds are not obtainable and the vehicle is hard to control. This forced us to travel below the posted minimum freeway speed until an exit with a power wash available.
