my car started stalling last month & so far I've invested $700 into fixing it & the issue is STILL an issue, the car cuts off at stops, jerks when i step on the brake, the engine light comes on when im going down hill, the heat only works when i have a full tank, the engine roars like a truck... i've been to the mechanic 3 times and have done EVERYTHING he has suggested, complete tune up, oil change, new head gasket, i even went & bought an i'yack (whatever the hell that is) & the car still has the same issue! at this point i dont know what to do except get a new car before this one drains me outta house & home

Lumina 3.1L V6

Car cuts out, loses power when driving, dies at stops occasionally and restarts, especially after warming up on roadway. I had a new fuel pump, fuel filter, strainer, ignition module, spark plugs and wires, crank sensor, vacuum hoses put on all in the last 1-2 months and the problem is still there. Before that was a replaced battery and alternator about 3 months ago. A fuel injector

cleaning foam has been blown through and I have put fuel injector cleaner and bottles of HEET

in the gas tank myself. The computer (ECU) was hooked up to diagnostics and only indicated a

problem with some map (I have no idea what map is). The problem worsens when the car gets low on fuel, so the mechanic told me to keep at least 1/4- 1/2 tank of gas at all times. The problem worsens after I add more gas to the tank. One day I stopped at FS station to get more gas, and shortly afterwards the car started cutting out when I pushed on the gas and backfired when I pushed the accelerator down too far. The car barely wanted to move . dying on me at diiferent times. It died on me and when I started it, the car wouldn't go and died as soon a I put it in drive. I left it sit overnight, walked home, and came back the next day to start it and it wouln't start. I got a tow truck to take it to the same darn mechanic. He replaced vacuum hoses and got the car running a couple days later.(All of this breaking down was during an ice storm here in IL). I have been driving it, but it still has this same problem of cutting out and stalling, and I am afraid every time I go to put more gas in the car. The mechanic is stumped and in a round about way, said he is tired of messing with this car. This problem is really peeing me off.
