The light in the AC button cuts off and on. When this happens, I hear the compressor disengage and the AC starts blowing out warm air. I bang on the front and side of the panel and the light will come back (and the AC back on). Sometimes it will stay on the rest of the trip and sometimes it will keep cutting in and out. The recirculate option will also not stay on for more than about 30 seconds. When it switches off, the AC light usually goes off and warm air starts coming out again. Sometimes if you hit a bump in the road, the light goes off and the AC cuts out.

When I bought this car at an auction, the a/c didn't work at all. My husband checked the fuses.. all good. Then he took off the control panel and tested & wiggled a few wires then the a/c started working. All settings except the highest fan setting. Then after a day or two, the a/c quit working again!! But then it came on again. Now when I drive, the a/c works about 70% of the time. Very annoying on those 100 degree days!! But also, when the a/c kicks off, my fuel gauge quits working and my temp gauge quits too. Also, when the a/c quits on its own, I've noticed that it still blows cold air thru the vents but only faintly. So it's like the a/c is still on and using up my gas, but won't blow.
