the blinker randomly would work or not work and the wires inside the hazard switch gets corroded with hot n cold and im a Mainer so very cold alot she is. So the circuit becomes week and if u turn the heat on full blast on the dashboard it will go the wires need to stay warm to work correctly so if there's a cop behind you and you need them to work crank the heat and pray my friend !!

Malibu LS 3.1L

Bought this 01 Malibu in August 2010 for my daughter. Since May, we have had these problems:

Theft security system locks up car so it's not drivable (yes, we know how to bypass that, but shouldn't have to!) CD player won't work - replaced CD player, new CD doesn't work (radio still works) Lock doors with keyfob, it doesn't honk back. Go down road, car honks. Misc beeps and whistles while driving down road Turn signals work when they want to AC only works when it wants to Car dies going down road (camshaft position sensor code, solutions include the fact that the wiring could be too close to spark plugs)

I find it difficult to believe all these things are separate issues. I feel it is an electrical issue. I wish I could find someone who has resolved all these issues. I bought an extended warranty on this car when we purchased it because my daughter is trying to work and go to college. She really needs a dependable vehicle. We have been a Chevy family going back at least 3 generations. My husband and I currently have 5 Chevy products sitting in our drive and I have always had faith in GM/Chevrolet, but this is beginning to cause me some concern. Last thing I need is my daughter to be stranded in a not so safe location if her car decides to die without warning. These kinds of issues should not be allowed to happen and Chevy should take care of this. We spend good money on cars and the manufacturer should stand behind what they sell!

Numerous electrical problems ! Passenger window won't operate from driver's side, only passenger can put window up or down. Power mirrors no longer work. Head light on passenger side no longer works. Flashers/turn signals no longer work. Amber tail lights work when they feel like it. A/C goes on and off on it's own. Cruise control no longer works. NOW have odd burning smell coming from somewhere under the car I believe. Not sweet smell like anti freeze... but maybe plastic like smell... Who knows. Already replaced head gaskets TWICE ! I give up ! If it dies it dies ! Can't put any more $$$$$ into that car. Could have bought a new one by now.....

I am annoyed with these problems, as this model just outright seems to have one thing after another. I had my turnsignal assembly replaced within the first year of owning the car due to a manufacturere problem. I just had to have the same thing done again in 2009 at my own expense. This time is was the hazards affecting the turn signal lights going out. Had to press the hazards over and over until the turn signals would work again.

I truly wish I could recoup my money lost for these various uncalled for repairs...aka manufacturere design errors.

okay, well i see I;m not the only person that had this problem. okay well unfortunately i purchased a G.M car, i bought this piece of sh*t for $4800. well the car drove great and all the electrical worked right. but one night after i dropped my girl friend off i made a left turn and i noticed the signal wasn't acting right, well i thought maybe the rear tail light was out because i knew the front was working. so i didn't pay any attention and drove the car a while with that acting up. then about 2 months later in the winter months the power windows started messing up, the passenger side rear wouldn't roll down with the back button only with the button on the drivers door and the left signal had completely stop working at all, i continued to drive the car because i still had money on it, and didn't have the cash to pay it off i mean I'm only 23 years old, and i work part time and go to college. so i had no money to buy a new car or pay this one off i was making payments on it...so i took the car to the garage and had it checked out the guy there said it's probably a BCM problem i asked him how much it would be to replace it, and he said around 3 hundred dollars...and i was shocked to hear that this car needed a part of that price! i drove it until then the theft system started f*cking acting up in the middle of the parking lot it wouldn't start and me being miles from home. the security light flashed, and the car would not hit at all. then that was the final straw for me, I added full coverage insurance to the car and i kelpt it for about 3-4 weeks and the I " Accidentally rolled it 2 times in a field" but yeah i had no other choice but to get rid of the car because it was more money than it was worth i now am a proud owner of a 2004 ford f-150 i love it, i'll never have a gm car again... But my advice is to change all the fuses, and change all the bubs and maybe have your BCM checked out because thats the only thing i could think of to be wrong with my 2001 Chevy Malibu but don't get me wrong it was a great little car up until the problems...But yeah that's my problem i hope you people can a solution to your problems like i did it at your own wish and watch who you tell it to....PEACE!

I bought a 2001 Malibu in 2001 so I bought it new, and for the last 2 years I have been fighting with the left blinker/break lights. When the problem first started it was just the blinker and it was acting as if it was the bulb. We replaced the bulb but it was not that. We tested the socket that the bulb goes in and found out that the inside of the light was bad so we replaced it. That lasted for about 2 month, so then they replaced that same part again; they replaced the same part 3x and it has burned out again and now it is also the break lights. I changed the fuse for the break lights and that worked for a while but I was changing the fuse for the break lights about every 2 to 3 weeks. Now even changing the fuse does not help and I am running out of money to keep getting this fixed. Could someone tell me what the problem could be and if there has been a recall on this problem?

Thank you in advance!

I bought a 2001 Malibu Friday... When i bought it i was told it had a blown head gasket. I.went to pick it up and jumped it off to see what it was doing and amazing it ran fine no dead miss,no white smoke so i checked the oil and it was clean.i thought i got a good deal for only $12,000 bucks..it had what i thought was only miner pro..such as door dinger kept dinging after i shut thr door and cut the key off.but it stopped when i cranked it. The dome light would not come on and thr passenger tail light was blown. I thought simple fix.so i bought a tail light and dome light .The tail light worked but the dome light still didnt? The next thig i did was check all the fuses to make sure nothing was blown and nothin was.So i said o well and drove it around that night it ran fine until i went to my towns Christmas perade.i had the car off for about an our or so till it was over and we got into the car and i went to crank it the theft sys,, tripped. I already knew how to reset it so i did and it cranked and left. I didnt thank nothing els about it...So i drove off and while i was going down the road the door locks started locking by there selfs...It was kinda like when you cut the car oo thr lock and when you cut it off it unlocks... I thought that was crazy. well i stoped and got something to eat before i went home. Well when i was leaving i cranked up my car and as i was pulling out it died on me .So i went to crank it and it would not start and when the motor turned over about five times the theft sys, kept tripping..I tryed it two more times and i had to keep re setting it.Well i findly got it to crank and went home. When i got there i cut the car on and off three times and it cranked fine until the thurd try it didnt crack and the theft sys, tripped again i tried resetting it and it dose but still want crank and once again after about five five times the motor spends over it tripps it and still want crank...my battry started dien after messing with it so i put it on my charger and i sprayed starting fluid in the air box and she started hitting then.so that tells me ether my ignition switch is ehter out or going out witsh would explain the door dengin and the theft sys,and why it ant getting any fuel..its gotta be ether the ignition switch or the BODY CONTROL MOGEL!!! They want $298.00 jus for the B.C.M.and it comes blank and unless you konw some body how has a tek2 the dealer wants $200.00 jus to program the new one to yor car.luckly i got a freind how woaks at a body shop that gots one and os me a faver lol..But if its the ignition switch i can get it from any parts house for a $100.00 or so and the good thing about that you can use your old lockcylinder and want have to get it codedn from the dealer witch is about $150.00 or more jus plug it all back up and hope for the best...dame G.M. and all this computer bull sh*t!!!!!!!!!
