I can't believe all the people who have the same problem with this car and no one at G.M. has the balls to own up to the fact that this car was this kind of problem that can cause a major accident and maybe cost someone their life. I am on a set income and can not afford the costly repairs this car will probably cost me. Right now she is sitting my sons driveway not working because of the fuel pump is gone out, not to mention my theft system is giving me hell for the past month, I'm getting reading to call the G.M. hot line and complain about my car, but maybe we should all think about getting a petition together and sending it Detroit . I am still making payments on my car and and I am going to call my finance company also and complain to them.
My family have always bought G.M. cars and most of my family have worked for them for since the mid 50's. This is shame that a company that big has done nothing about something that can be potentionlly dangerous and the goverment hasn't stepped up also. I want to thank everyone who wrote on this sight because I would not have known what to do but pay the big bucks to some dealer who is out to make a sh*t load of money off all me and still have the same problems. Malibu Mom.

I think I kicked myself in the a$$ with this one.
So, it was a Saturday night and I took my niece to hang out with her friends. On the way there my car stalled... I was sort of taken back because this had never happened. Well it stalled while I was turning at a 4Way [very inconvenient]. So I turned it off, flipped my hazards on and called my brother. He didn't know what was up so we pushed it to the side of the road and left it until the next morning. I get up Sunday and have my brother drive me down to my car. He doesn't know what it is. Thank God my neighbor runs a towing company and has a heart of gold. I call him up and he comes to tow it for free. Well, he gets under the car and bangs the fuel tank with a hammer and whaddya know, it comes on [for a few seconds].
He tells me it's the pump.. We get it home and find out that the battery died from trying to start it so much... This car has been a pain in my A$$. I've replaced the brakes and rotors twice already. Now I'm finding out the pump's on these things blow big ones AND have electrical problems?!
Fuel pump&Filter- $400
Battery- $80
Finding out you're stuck with a piece of sh*t- priceless.

I bought my car about four months ago and yesterday i drove to work just fine then on my first break i wanted some heat in my car so i tried to start it and it wouldn't crank like the motor wasn't getting fuel. I bought a fuel filter and changed it in the parking lot at one o'clock in the morning and after trying a few times it started so i thought i fixed it, NOT!! Today i got off work and went to my girlfriends house i left at about three in the morning and got stranded in the middle of no were. I was driving when my car began sputtering and then died so i pulled over. My dad had to come out and tow me home with a tow strap. Please if any of you figured out the problem email me at pcwbonehead@aol.com.

I took it to the Rothrock Chevrolet Service Shop and was told that they do not know what is happening..... Has there been a recall. My car cuts off when traveling between 30 and 35 mph. What should I do... I do not want to trade in the car

Bought this car used from a dealership and there was no mention of a possible problem with the fuel pump. I was on a Provencal Highway when it just died (very life threatening situation). OPP officer told me the problem right off the top of his head (common problem he sees all the time, as did the tow truck driver). I'll be contacting GMC in Detroit about this common problem for resolution (hope they are still in business so they can address this problem).-- it's no wonder the US congress might not want to help with a "bridge loan". I'm concerned though since reading this page that it might happen again so I'm going to press the shop for a warranty on the new pump and ignition switch! This is very disheartening to me since I am a Big 3 person growing up around the auto industry

THIS IS BS. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE CAR THAT LONG AND IT GIVES ME ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS. IT LOST POWER WHILE A FRIEND WAS USING IT. THE BRAKE LOCKED AND SO DID THE WHEEL. I DON'T KNOW IF ITS THAT STUPID ALARM, ALL I KNOW IS THAT THE CAR SEEMS TO WANT TO START BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. I HAD A FRIEND DISCONNECT THE ALARM, THE BATTERY AND NOTHING. THE THEFT SYSTEM LIGHT SEEMS TO BE ON. WE USED STARTED FLUID TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN, IT WAS ALMOST GOING TO START BUT STILL NOTHING. I HAD A MECHANIC TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND HE SAID ITS THE FUEL PUMP BUT IM NOT TOO CONVINCED. THE GAS PUMP IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND I DON'T WANT TO SPEND THAT MUCH IF ALL THESE OTHER PROBLEMS ARE GOING TO BE POPPING UP. THIS CAR HASEN'T EVEN BEEN USED THAT MUCH FOR THE DAM PUMP TO GET F***ED UP. I KNOW THAT THE CAR HAS HAD OTHER REPAIR IN THE PAST BUT IT WAS DOING JUST FINE BESIDES WASTING A LOTTTT OF GAS. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF HOW TO Disable THE ALARM OR IF THE SYMPTOMS SOUND LIKE IT IS THE GAS PUMP PLEASE LET ME KNOW AT BABYCOMBO96@HOTMAIL.COM
