Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact also mentioned that the anti-theft warning light illuminated and the vehicle intermittently stalled when it was successfully started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the pass lock sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.

The failure worsened and recently began to occur every two days. The contact would have to place the key into the ignition and turn it so that it would reset and the theft deterrent light would dim. She took the vehicle to a service center, but they could not find any failures. The manufacturer advised her to take the vehicle to the dealer. The current mileage was approximately 53,450 and failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
