Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that she experienced several failures with her vehicle since the day it was purchased. The driver's side visor disassembled when she pulled it down. The dealer repaired the visor, but could not determine the cause of the failure. In September of 2007, the power locks failed on both sides of the vehicle, causing the contact to be trapped inside. After several attempts of activating the remote entry, she was able to release the locks and exit the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the door detonators failed. The vehicle was repaired. In November of 2008, while driving 25 mph in rainy conditions, the windshield wipers failed to activate. The contact had to pull the vehicle over due to lack of visibility and waited for the rain to stop. The dealer stated that the windshield wiper switched failed and repaired the vehicle. On December 22, 2008, the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop to have an oil change. The mechanic stated that the cabin filter was missing. He further stated that the cabin filter was never placed in the vehicle from the date it was manufactured. The cost to repair the vehicle would be $30. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. The manufacturer stated that there were no current recalls regarding the failures that she was experiencing; however, she was offered an extended warranty and oil changes for up to 24,000 miles. The failure mileage was 50 and current mileage was 21,740.
